So my bday is coming up, and I'll probably get some cash then(people know better than to try buying me gifts 
) and lucky me the day after I get my annual government money(long story).
So I'm probably going to pick this up since it's the best chance of me getting one in time for Mario. What else should I pick up? I already own Zelda and Mario Kart, so those are out. Arms is possible since my little bro is into fighting games and want to try it, was thinking Splatoon 2 if the single player is good enough.
What else is there to recommend? Some decent downloadable games would be cool.
Mario Kart 8 is worth it again for the actual real battle mode stages. ARMS is pretty fun and anyone can pick up and play it. Splatoon 2 is definitely worth it as well. Mario + Rabbids is also pretty awesome. ARMS and Splatoon 2 also keep getting free updates with new content.
There's a pretty good amount of games on the system now and it really just depends on if you own these on other platforms or not-
-One Piece Unlimited World Red is a really nice port. It's only out in Japan at the moment but coming out here in a few weeks. If you did import, it runs in full English. Note that it's super easy to set up a Japanese account and download eShop games.
-Ditto for DragonBall Xenoverse 2. U.S. version is out in a couple of weeks.
-Neurovoider came out last week and is a pretty fun little twin stick shooter/roguelike. There's also The Binding Of Isaac.
-Cave Story is awesome but I'm one of the few who never played that on anything else. It's getting patched soon with a 2P local co-op mode.
-Gunvolt Striker Pack contains Gunvolt 1 and 2.
-Sonic Mania is good, but you have that on PS4 already IIRC.
-Super Bomberman R got patched and is no longer a kinda-crap game. I still prefer older Bombermans but this ain't bad.
-Blaster Master Zero is a fun throwback to Blaster Master 1 on the NES. Has downloadable content with new playable characters.
-Shantae 1/2 Genie Hero is another awesome 2D platformer.
-Puyo Puyo Tetris is great for a Tetris/Puyo mix or Tetris or Puyo Puyo by themselves.
-Only get Ultra Street Fighter II if you want a newer version of SF2 to mess around in and play casually.
-Haven't started Slime-San yet, but it looks like a weird, quality Metroidvania.
-Mighty Gunvolt Burst is a fantastic 2D Mega Man style game.
-Fate/Extella is better on PS4, but is a good port on Switch if you want a musou game. Fire Emblem Warriors is coming next month though.
-Wonder Boy The Dragon's Trap is a great HD port-up of the classic original.
-KAMIKO is a fun overhead arcade-style action game. It's kind of short but also low-priced. Worth picking up.
-FAST RMX is a great F-Zero clone. It's getting more content (free!) soon, too.
-Pokken Tournament is coming out in a couple of weeks. There's a demo up now.
