So my Switch started making a buzzing noise like when there's dust in a cpu/gpu fan or some components are on their way out.

Are save games tied to the hardware? I don't know if my Switch is gonna make it  :'(

I pay that. Does it automatically back up all your saves or do I need to manually move them over?

I don’t know, but I have my doubts it’s automatic.

I think it is automatic for most games (but not Animal Crossing, which has its own save sync system.)

It's automatic.  The only save I think that you'd actually lose, if you have the game, is Splatoon 2.

From what I've read, completing it is like 3 hours, 100% will be about six hours.

They're making some small improvements to 3D World to make it play a bit better so might be easier this time.

Quote
The most obvious change when viewing the games side-by-side is that character speeds have been greatly increased, both in the overworld map and inside stages themselves. You could always hold Y to dash, but now all the characters move significantly faster. This has the added effect of making Toad a much more tricky risk-reward character, since his dash was always significantly faster than other characters, and now he’s just blazing-fast. It also makes moving around the map to choose your next stage move at a speedier clip.

The Switch version is also just more visually attractive. While the fidelity and textures look very similar, the icons have been shrunk to take less screen real estate, and the text boxes have been lightened to let you see the game world more clearly.

And, of course, the strange microphone-blowing mechanic to move platforms has been changed so that platforms now move automatically. That odd holdover just doesn’t belong on the Switch version.

The game was envisioned as a trilogy. So hopefully that happens.

Also I've much rather have Nintendo take-over Platinum Games than Xbox or PlayStation.

I'd rather have them stay independent and make their own, solely-owned IPs, which is exactly what they've started doing.

Pretty sure Bayonetta is still owned by Sega.

Nintendo is just footing the bills for the sequels, so that’s why they’re Wii U & Switch exclusive.

https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2021/01/super_mario_3d_world_plus_bowsers_fury_frame_rate_and_resolution_detailed

Quote
Here's the round-up, courtesy of Nintendo Everything. It's worth pointing out that the resolution of Bowser's Fury in docked mode may possibly be higher than 720p (the source doesn't clarify docked and handheld differences).

Super Mario 3D World
- 1080p, 60fps (docked)

- 720p, 60fps (portable)

Bowser's Fury
- 720p, 60fps (docked)

- 720p, 30fps (portable)

For the sake of comparison, the original 3D World game on Wii U was 720p, 60fps.

Edit: The source article:

https://www.gamereactor.eu/super-mario-3d-world-handson-bowsers-fury-is-bold-and-bizarre/

Did I miss something? It says Bowser's Fury is 720P, but doesn't mention the framerate being 30 FPS undocked.

I would be shocked if Nintendo let a mainline Mario game slum it at 30fps, even in portable mode.

Just confirms I'll play it docked only and make use of the ever-handy mClassic to get 1080P/1440P upscaling.

Watch them use Bowser's Fury running at 60/1080P handheld to show what the Super Switch™ can do later on.

Wife, daughter and I have been having a lot of fun as a family doing 3-player coop NSMB Deluxe U together, they saw a commercial for 3D World and were all "buy that."

Yeah, the first and only time I've pre-ordered anything was on Amazon and it didn't arrive until a full week after launch. Confirms for me that pre-ordering games is for suckers.

Pre-ordered 3D World on the eShop. My wife's out next Friday night and the kid is actually looking forward to a game that isn't on the iPad. I couldn't take any postage chances because it's not often that just me and kiddo get to game on our own, together.

Hammering Ring Fit Adventure at the moment. Everyone is moaning about getting fat through lockdown and I'm getting shredded as fuck. I almost told the wife not to bother getting it after the mediocrity of Wii Fit, but RFA is legit.

Just got readjusted last night with it now arriving on the 12th.

FFVII Remake is the only item I've ever preordered from them that didn't come on release day, and that was definitely because of the pandemic.

Just bought a mClassic because I saw that I could use it with an HDMI switcher. Which I learned from a video put out by the manufacturer themselves. So I'm interested in seeing what it does for the Switch and my older systems.
