After all this is over Trump should get an emmy.

He has been the producer, director, writer and actor of the 24/7 news cycle for over years 3 now.

I looked up his Easter Roll 2018 remarks and he did say that military funding was better than it had ever been or whatever, but this part is better.

Quote
Also, I want to thank the White House Historical Association and all of the people that work so hard with Melania, with everybody, to keep this incredible house or building, or whatever you want to call it — because there really is no name for it; it is special — and we keep it in tip-top shape. We call it sometimes tippy-top shape.

But only sometimes.

It works if you have Obama level political talents but if you're not there it comes off as fake. Also on a macro level it breeds cynicism among the body politic because on some level the vapidity becomes apparent, especially when every candidate employs the same rhetorical tricks.

One of Trump's biggest advantages imo was that anytime he was on stage with somebody trying to do that act they looked totally inauthentic next to his dementia-induced performance.

Buttigieg's "political talents" are a tier higher than Obama's. I have no idea what you're blabbin' about.

Copmala and Gilli are both political opporunists/populists who will say one thing to voters to make them happy and then bend the knee to the establishment when push comes to shove. No real convictions. You are looking at the exact scenario if thoe two win or if Biden does you dumb biiiiiiiatch

my unsolicited list

1. Bernie/ Warren. Bernie is probably more electable/charismatic, Warren torpedoed her candidacy with ancestry.com. Ideally a Bernie/Warren ticket happens, but it might be too "radical" for the general public.

2. Yang. He has some positions I find disagreeable, but I know I will personally benefit from his UBI and so will a ton of other people. He also seems level-headed, can be reasoned with and doesn't endlessly bloviate vague generalities (see tier 6).

4. Harris/Castro/Tulsi. Harris is basically Clinton 2.0, she's a symbol. Not too versed on Castro. He's from Obama's cabinet. Tulsi, I want to see on the debate stage.

5. Gravel. Just wanna see the crazy old man hit the debate stage.

6. Beto/Butch/Gilli/Booker. Zero enthusiasm for these.

7. Biden/Klubba   :donot

booty mayor btfo

People should give Pete at least some credit.

Pete just doesn't say no to anything. Which means he keeps himself in the spotlight and doesn't get lost in the media cycle. It seems to be what older guard Dems aren't grasping. Keeping a tight grip on your narrative and media appearances doesn't work anymore.

I've seen the guy interview with basically every beltway paper, appear at a CNN Townhall, Morning Joe, Fox News, a million podcasts(Weeds, Preet Bahara, Axlerod, PSA, Brett Bair, pretty much every NPR show), and appear on almost every day-time or late-night show. And he throws just enough shit out there like stacking the supreme court and getting rid of the filibuster to drum up enough controversy. In that sense, I really don't get the Beto comparisons. He's not my first choice but some of the shit people throw at him(like not having positions) I don't quite get.

I won't speak to how they are getting filtered, but all three of them are playing from the same playbook of saying yes to almost everything and that has elevated their respective profiles and kept the media cycle from forgetting about them IMO.

Pete just uses the strategy while channeling a lot of that Overton Window approach Obama utilized and I suspect that is what endears him to that cable news/beltway journalist crowd.

Top tier:
Yang - He seems to actually have ideas on stuff that matters like automation
Trump - All time classic god emperor
Tulsi - If this question was fuck/marry/kill, you know
Putin - You might as well cut out the middle man or woman
McCafee - This would be bonkers and thus top tier

OK handsign tier:
Gravel - Old man yells from oval office
Buttigieg - Seems like an ok guy
Romney - I always thought Romney would be an 'ok' President. He was onto the Russians before everyone else for starters

Guess they'll do tier:
Biden - Will probably get railroaded by the press everytime he touches something or someone and will be generally disliked
Sanders - Congress/Senate will probably block a lot of his ideas or water them down
Harris - It'll be annoying as fuck to have a 'yassss queen' as President for 4 years but at least we will live (I think)
Castro - Don't know much about him but seems ok'ish
Booker - Textbook politician. Probably wouldn't rock the boat too much

Nightmare tier:
Gillibrand - Just seems awful
Pence - Trump picked him just because he's so horrible
Beto - Furry
Warren - basically no-fun-allowed.jpg
Howard Schultz - electing this guy would be a clear sign of the apocalypse
Paul Ryan - I would seriously feel bad for 'Murica if he got elected

On Tuesday, President Trump hosted Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey in the Oval Office for a closed-door meeting, during which the leader of the free world spent an inordinate amount of time complaining about lost Twitter followers, according to a source familiar with the conversation.

The Twitter chief, for his part, tried to reassure the president that the company’s staff merely wants his follower count to be as bot-free as possible.

This is what the most powerful person in the world was preoccupied with Tuesday.

A large percentage of the meeting, which included senior White House officials such as Trump’s social media director Dan Scavino, was spent addressing the subject of @realDonaldTrump’s follower count. The president stated his belief that he had lost some of his roughly 59 million followers in anti-Trump, anti-conservative Twitter purges, according to a source familiar with the meeting.

Dorsey, according to this knowledgeable source, had to explain to the president that like other Twitter users, @realDonaldTrump periodically loses followers when the site deletes fake or bot accounts. Dorsey even said he himself had lost followers as a result of Twitter’s efforts to delete fake accounts.

Quote
During this private gathering in the West Wing, Dorsey assured Trump that the company wants him, and everyone else on Twitter, to have only real followers, according to the source.

Trump also said he’s heard from other prominent conservatives about problems with Twitter, though he declined to name names.

Quote
The summit with Twitter’s CEO is unlikely to assuage the president’s concerns about tech giants and social media, of which he has many. Two people close to Trump previously told The Daily Beast that Trump has repeatedly griped to associates about how his predecessor, President Obama, has had more Twitter followers than he has, even though—by Trump’s own assessment—he is so much better at Twitter than Obama is.

Off the top of my head:

1. Bernie
2. Warren
3. Yang
4. Harris
5. Beto
6. Gabbard
7. Gravel
8. Weld
9. Buttigieg
10. Booker
11. Messam
12. Ryan
13. Moulton
14. Swalwell
15. Castro
16. Hickenlooper
17. Inslee
18. Klobuchar
19. Williamson
20. Delaney

----

Never going to vote for: Gillibrand. I'd sooner vote for Howard Schultz. If Kristen Gillibrand actually somehow wins the nomination, I'd just write in Bernie or Warren at that point.

MSNBC is pushing Mayor Pete hard, Fox is pushing Bernie hard
More like Fox is pushing "a year of Democratic infighting worth ratings gold":
Quote
Fox News will host a town hall with South Bend, Ind., mayor and presidential hopeful, Pete Buttigieg.

The event will air live from Claremont, N.H., on Sunday, May 19, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET.

It will be moderated by Chris Wallace, host of "Fox News Sunday."

Fox News and Fox Business president and executive editor, Jay Wallace, said of the event, “We look forward to hosting Mayor Buttigieg in New Hampshire and again showcasing our first-in-class journalism and election coverage.”

Buttigieg's town hall will be the fourth for Fox News during the 2020 election cycle.

"Special Report’s" Bret Baier and "The Story’s" Martha MacCallum held a town hall with 2020 frontrunner Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) earlier this month, which was the highest rated of the election cycle so far, garnering nearly 2.6 million viewers, preceded by a town hall with Howard Schultz which drew more than 1.9 million viewers.

Last week, Fox News announced a town hall with Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), scheduled for May 8 in Milwaukee.
