By all accounts he's a good retail campaigner and a lot of voters think Warren's too far left.

Well, good retail campaigner among white voters. Could possibly see this becoming a Biden/Buttigieg race.

It was a less partisan time and Nixon's approval ratings had cratered. Trump's never seem to move outside a ~5 point range.

I also wonder if the more tangible aspects of the case (a literal break-in! 18 minutes of deleted audio) gave people a more obvious sense of corruption.

This is obvious to anyone who's stared at the Real Clear Politics aggregator for more than five seconds, but, I highlighted how the top five candidates are doing right now relative to the start of their campaigns (with some liberties*) and...

Warren is the only person whose position has changed at all. :lol Even with all the talk about the Kamala Collapse or Buttigieg Surge, they're both actually pretty stable. Just thought that was kind of funny, even if this is kind of BenjiSales tier analysis  :brain. Shows how pointless most of election season really is.

* The two exceptions are:
1) I averaged out Biden's peaks and troughs lately because it seems like there's a good 4% of people out there who pretend they're shopping for other candidates when they're polled, but eventually just come home to Diamond Joe, and
2) I started Buttigieg's trendline at the time he got his face out there and had his big townhall in May because literally no one knew who he was and that seemed like a fairer place to start.

How accurate is Iowa primary polling usually, I wonder. Because it’s also a caucus state.

On the one hand, retirees have time for dumb shit like caucusi on the other hand, hard to caucus wit your oxygen tank.

“This would have been far better off if we would’ve just taken care of this behind the scenes,” Johnson said in an interview on NBC News’s “Meet the Press.” “We have two branches of government.

If I cared enough to figure out the demographics for each individual polls, the wild swings would probably make more sense to me. But eh, I'd believe whatever senario somebody puts out to win Iowa and New Hampshire at this point.

Also:

A CBS News Battleground Tracker poll finds former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Elizabeth Warren leading in the early states. The poll came out before former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he was considering joining the 2020 race. CBS News director of election and surveys Anthony Salvanto joins CBS News political correspondent Ed O'Keefe to discuss the latest polls.

Anyway, Pete polling well as a news item is probably bad news for Pete because it paints a target on him for the next debate, and he’s a very easy target. Iowa isn’t until fucking February so these numbers really don’t mean much regardless.

I think it's easy to get a distorted view of someone when you're just listening to primary noise. When Buttigieg first announced, he was pretty clearly a more-left-than-moderate, medicare for all kind of guy with distinctive policy proposals (like bringing back court packing). As the race went on, though, he had to distinguish himself and he ended up falling into this centrist/technocratic niche that was above the internecine party infighting or whatever. Now this stuff is getting way over exaggerated and people are only seeing what they want to see: an out of place Iowa conservative whose only function is to be a stalking horse for corporate interests. When he runs again in four years because Joe Biden got 25th'd for dementia he'll probably reinvent himself and you'll all love him.

I bet his personal views are actually pretty close to his father's, and he's committed to the eventual dictatorship of the proletariat. Just like Papa Buttigieg brainwashed him. When he met up with Mark Zuckerberg I'm sure he couldn't stop picturing him blindfolded and up against the wall.
