It's because Ivanka looked at Trudeau the way Donald wishes she'd look at him.

That dude is a fouching duck-canoe. When she asks a question, and he rudely goes on the assault for her being "rude." Jesus fuckadoodle christ. He WAS comparing Ivanka to Kennedy, and he got caught.

Quote
Happily for Canada, the cancellation of NAFTA would resurrect the pre-existing free-trade agreement (FTA) between Canada and the United States. Yes, in this case, Mr. Trump is correct: The Americans were outnegotiated. Our side was clever enough to foresee that NAFTA, with Mexico added into the mix, might be problematic and ultimately fail. By an exchange of notes between Canada and the United States at the time NAFTA was negotiated, it was formally agreed that in the event of NAFTA's demise, the FTA would revive. Mr. Trump's target is Mexico and his need for leverage to force Mexico to pay for that damn wall. He can accomplish that by abrogating NAFTA and leaving Canada-U.S. trade relations intact.

Don't breathe a sigh of relief just yet, though. The FTA had many detractors in the United States, and Canada could indeed come into focus. Some Americans argued that the FTA facilitated the movement of manufacturing jobs to Canada. Funny, this is the same argument that Canadian critics of NAFTA have been making, but in reverse. Liberalized trade may not be a zero-sum game after all. It is just possible that technological change, tax incentives, currency fluctuation and, yes, health-care costs, have everything to do with jobs shifting one way or the other.

https://beta.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/rob-commentary/what-would-canada-us-trade-relations-look-like-without-nafta/article32947565/?ref=http://www.theglobeandmail.com&service=mobile

So there's a third revision of the health care bill in the House that sounds like it might get some tea partiers on board but lose "moderate" Republicans in vulnerable districts.

I want to point and laugh at the GOP and Trump and Paul Ryan, but I also worry that they've made ACA repeal such a huge talking point over the years that eventually they'll fall in line and pass something, consequences be damned.

Ryan wants to push something out of the House as soon as he can so that they can start shifting blame for nothing being done over to the Senate. Not that it really matters, though, the Senate is so far away from having the votes to pass this mess.

In a White House interview, Trump brushed aside the idea after Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen told Reuters on Thursday she would not rule out talking directly again to the U.S. president, an act certain to incense China. The status of self-ruled Taiwan is possibly the most sensitive issue between Washington and Beijing.

“Look, my problem is I have established a very good personal relationship with President Xi. I really feel that he is doing everything in his power to help us with a big situation,” Trump told Reuters, referring to signs that China may be working to head off any new missile or nuclear test by Pyongyang, Beijing’s neighbor and ally.

“So I wouldn’t want to be causing difficulty right now for him,” Trump added. “I think he’s doing an amazing job as a leader and I wouldn’t want to do anything that comes in the way of that. So I would certainly want to speak to him first.”

This is the sum total of what Trump has done so far: signed a few executive orders [the most meaningful of which got blocked almost immediately by the judiciary], released a laughably short tax "plan", picked a Supreme Court justice out of a hat, failed spectacularly on healthcare reform, immediately retreated on NAFTA, immediately collapsed on getting tough with China, caved on funding a border wall, and many rounds of golf. That's it.

Lou Dobbs is amazing, he's fapping to war scenarios with North Korea on the air again and the Trump administration official is all "their missile went 25 miles in 15 minutes and blew up, we don't really need to do anything" and Dobbs just goes "BUT WHAT IF THEY HAD A MISSILE THAT COULD HIT THE US? SHOULDN'T WE SHOW STRENGTH???" and she's all like "well...uh...they don't so I" "BUT THEY'RE THREATENING TO" and he just eventually cuts her off to ask the Fox News Contributor to help him out about how we need war with North Korea because of this attack on American interests.

Also apparently Trump may be signaling weakness that our enemies will take advantage of by saying things like this:
Quote
Trump, asked if he considered North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to be rational...

"He's 27 years old. His father dies, took over a regime. So say what you want but that is not easy, especially at that age.

"I'm not giving him credit or not giving him credit, I'm just saying that's a very hard thing to do. As to whether or not he's rational, I have no opinion on it. I hope he's rational," he said.
Shows how stupid Trump his, Jong-un's father didn't die, he was promoted to Eternal General Secretary of the Workers Party of Korea and Eternal Chairman of the Nation Defence Commission.

China is a major holder of the foreign debt which only represents like 1/3 of our total debt. The rest is in the Federal Reserve or pension accounts. What's really interesting is apparently Japan just passed China.

Anyways, if you wanna pull your hair out and cry here's something Trump said:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2017/05/01/why-did-trump-win-new-research-by-democrats-offers-a-worrisome-answer/
Quote
A sizable chunk of Obama-Trump voters — 30 percent — said their vote for Trump was more a vote against Clinton than a vote for Trump. Remember, these voters backed Obama four years earlier.
42 percent of Obama-Trump voters said congressional Democrats’ economic policies will favor the wealthy, vs. only 21 percent of them who said the same about Trump.
Quote
Skepticism about the Democratic Party was echoed rather forcefully in the focus groups that I watched. In one, Obama-Trump voters were asked what Democrats stand for today and gave answers such as these:

“The one percent.”

“The status quo.”

“They’re for the party. Themselves and the party.”

One woman, asked whether the Democratic Party is for people like her, flatly declared: “Nope.”

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/politics-government/article147475484.html
Quote
But new information shows that Clinton had a much bigger problem with voters who had supported President Barack Obama in 2012 but backed Trump four years later.

Those Obama-Trump voters, in fact, effectively accounted for more than two-thirds of the reason Clinton lost, according to Matt Canter, a senior vice president of the Democratic political firm Global Strategy Group.
...
“We have to make sure we learn the right lesson from 2016, that we don’t just draw the lesson that makes us feel good at night, make us sleep well at night,” Canter said.

His firm’s conclusion is shared broadly by other Democrats who have examined the data, including senior members of Clinton’s campaign and officials at the Democratic data and analytics firm Catalist. (The New York Times, doing its own analysis, reached a similar conclusion.)
Quote
Democrats are quick to acknowledge that even if voters switching allegiance had been Clinton’s biggest problem, in such a close election she still could have defeated Trump with better turnout. She could have won, for instance, if African-American turnout in Michigan and Florida matched 2012 levels.
Quote
Belief that turnout was the main reason Clinton lost, however, remains a prominent theory among Democrats.

“There’s an active conversation within the party about whether persuasion was the problem or turnout,” said Lanae Erickson Hatalsky, vice president for social policy and politics at Third Way, a center-left Democratic think tank.

That debate is complicated, she added, because some Democrats think winning over voters is already a lost cause.

“There’s still a real concern that persuasion is harder and costs more than mobilization, so let’s just triple down on getting out the people who already agree with us,” she said. “And I think there’s a lot of worry that we don’t actually know how to persuade anymore, and so maybe we should just go talk to the people we agree with.”

NEWMAN! BERNIE!

What's that? https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/30/us/politics/democrats-2020.html
Quote
MANCHESTER, N.H. — A vast array of Democratic leaders, divided by generations but uniformly emboldened by President Trump’s perceived vulnerability, have begun taking palpable steps toward seeking the White House in an election that is still three and a half years away.

Having seen what the first 100 days is like under Trump, it might actually be a good thing that he stays in office for the whole term. Trump is so scattershot and unable to put his full attention on anything other than himself for more than a few minutes, so actually getting anything meaningful done is nearly impossible. Put Pence in charge and it's much more likely that he's able to whip Republicans out on either wing to get with the majority and start passing legislation.

I mean, we're completely screwed either way, of course, but maybe a bit less so if Trump continues to bumble from one mess to another.

Trump is not getting impeached, the fact that he was elected in the first place seem to signify that.
The full first half of The New Yorker article is actually some kind of unsatisfying fan fiction about Republicans (or Democrats after they sweep to power in 2018) finding a way to have him removed from office due to clear yet to be formally diagnosed psychiatric problems that make him unfit for office. Like they didn't have two years to play that card already and the entire Hillary campaign never seriously did either. :lol

It doesn't seem Pence is that competent, or at least he has drunk a lot of the Trump's Kool Aid to even be in reality (as he believing that the health bill would have the necessary votes to pass was delusional enough).
