NPR was likely handed this story with a note on what it was about and wrote that story. They were given the story after all. That doesn't require any conspiracy or secrecy. It's just bias and convenience.
They buried the Seymour Hersh part, which is a big story on its own. FWIW, they don't believe Rich was killed because of this. Just simply that Rich was the source for Wikileaks. i have to repeat that every time, because people go to murder conspiracy as the response.
What did they bury about the Seymour Hersh part?
This is a suit that is being presented from Rod Wheeler's accounting of the facts. The conversations that mention Hersh appear to be conversations Wheeler had with Butowsky recounting the conversations he had with Hersh, where Hersh allegedly said to Butowsky, amongst other things, this:
Mr. Hersh had not seen the report himself,
Mr. Hersh cautioned Butowsky that the information was not necessarily true, and that, even if true, it did not preclude the possibility that the Russians also hacked the DNC.
BUTOWSKY PLANS TO EXTORT SY HERSH IN AN EFFORT TO “SAVE” THE MAY 16, 2017 STORY
103.
During a May 19, 2017 telephone call between Butowsky and Mr. Wheeler, Butowsky revealed his plan to extort Sy Hersh in an effort to save the May 16, 2017 Seth Rich story. Specifically, Butowsky stated: “What I’m really good at is going on the offensive, okay. Once we assess the situation, so I’ve got a friend of mine from high school that does a lot of crises management stuff but we both think a lot alike. I sent him the Sy Hersh redacted where it’s just his voice. He is going to record five seconds of Sy’s voice. He’s emailing Sy. That email is going to contain that five seconds and, he’s going to say, you have three hours to write back who at the FBI you spoke to, with his name, that read you the Seth Rich report. If you don’t give us that in three hours, a full recording of everything we have will be at every news agency tonight with your name and phone number on it. If you give it to us, you will never hear from us again.
When Hersh was asked about these conversations he described the discussions as gossip he heard.
And while I think Wheeler's credibility should be in doubt until he validates his claims further, and I tried telling you that months ago when you refused to acknowledge the inconsistencies. In this suit they claim to have statements by the head of the Seth Rich case that the FBI has never been in possession of the laptop(along with having zero evidence that corroborates the conspiracy). Which in isolation I would be skeptical of, except for the fact that aligns with what I linked for you months ago. Which was that NBC, The Washington Post, several other outlets, and now today NPR has corroborated with people familiar with the case and/or at the FBI, that the FBI is not involved in this case. Which once again further strains the credibility of this phantom single FBI source you continue to hang your hat on.
So to simplify your position, the FBI source that apparently Wheeler and Butowsyi have no access to, and Hersh has said was gossip talk, is who you are now hinging your consideration of legitimacy for this conspiracy on. Along with vague Julian Assange tweets after the Seth Rich conspiracy gained some steam.
