and they're not pulling their weight, I tell you

too busy receiving aid

edit: I got curious and looked up the most recent report on homelessness in Sweden and damn we have a generous definition
like "renting apartment second hand" generous
so the rate of "acute homelessness" aka "does not have home and lives in car/tent" was less than half
for the US I looked on wikipedia, and the US includes "home instability from hardship and/or domestic violence" in their definition which is similarly generous

anyway I was looking for numbers and the numbers I got was 34,000 / 10,000,000 = 0.34% homeless Sweden as of 2017(most generous available definition), 1,593,150 / 323,000,000 = 0.49% homeless USA as of 2010(most generous available definition)

granted, Obama could have fixed all that in the intervening time
You could just use the OCED numbers. http://www.oecd.org/els/family/HC3-1-Homeless-population.pdf
Quote
There  is  no  internationally  agreed definition of homelessness. Therefore, this  indicator presents a collection of available statistics on homelessness in OECD and EU countries in line with definitions used in national surveys (comparability issues on the data are discussed below). Some countries have different official definitions of homeless: they may use a definition for the purpose of data collection but use another one or several definitions for policy purposes, i.e. in the framework of policy measures aimed at tackling homelessness. In this indicator we refer only to the statistical definition used for data collection purposes.
If you look at the actual criteria later in the paper you'll see the definitions used for homeless in the United States and for Sweden are almost identical (shelters and transitional housing).

Donald Trump’s former chief strategist Steve Bannon has described the Trump Tower meeting between the president’s son and a group of Russians during the 2016 election campaign as “treasonous” and “unpatriotic”, according to an explosive new book seen by the Guardian.

Bannon, speaking to author Michael Wolff, warned that the investigation into alleged collusion with the Kremlin will focus on money laundering and predicted: “They’re going to crack Don Junior like an egg on national TV.”

Quote
He is particularly scathing about a June 2016 meeting involving Trump’s son Donald Jr, son-in-law Jared Kushner, then campaign chairman Paul Manafort and Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya at Trump Tower in New York.

Quote
“Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad shit, and I happen to think it’s all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately.”

Bannon went on, Wolff writes, to say that if any such meeting had to take place, it should have been set up “in a Holiday Inn in Manchester, New Hampshire, with your lawyers who meet with these people”. Any information, he said, could then be “dump[ed] … down to Breitbart or something like that, or maybe some other more legitimate publication”.

Bannon added: “You never see it, you never know it, because you don’t need to … But that’s the brain trust that they had.”

Quote
“You realise where this is going,” he is quoted as saying. “This is all about money laundering. Mueller chose [senior prosecutor Andrew] Weissmann first and he is a money-laundering guy. Their path to fucking Trump goes right through Paul Manafort, Don Jr and Jared Kushner … It’s as plain as a hair on your face.”

Last month it was reported that federal prosecutors had subpoenaed records from Deutsche Bank, the German financial institution that has lent hundreds of millions of dollars to the Kushner property empire. Bannon continues: “It goes through Deutsche Bank and all the Kushner shit. The Kushner shit is greasy. They’re going to go right through that. They’re going to roll those two guys up and say play me or trade me.”

Scorning apparent White House insouciance, Bannon reaches for a hurricane metaphor: “They’re sitting on a beach trying to stop a Category Five.”

Key excerpt: Jared [Kushner] and Ivanka had made an earnest deal between themselves: If some time in the future the time came, she’d be the one to run for president (or the first one of them to take the shot). The first woman president, Ivanka entertained, would not be Hillary Clinton, it would be Ivanka Trump.

Bannon is not as smart as he likes to pretend to be. Probably both, Trump and Bannon, are tired of one another after the continous shit shows of last year, including the Roy Moore fiasco.

I will just say this, and frankly I am only aware of it because I vaguely remembered the author's name and realized it was because of the critic of his I read that penned one of the best books on American Healthcare in the last decade: Steven Brill's America's Bitter Pill.

I wouldn't exactly be shocked if this most recent book ends up having more than one account that comes up questionable and this becomes a bit of a circus that may have a slight chance of backfiring in Trump's favor(of course given who this is dealing with who can tell what will be considered genuine or not).

The author has been hit with some notable criticisms from reputable places like the Columbia School of Journalism and former employers for being a bit loose with his narratives, and in the case of Steven Brill, accused of outright fabricating quotes in his Dot Com book. And pretty much all of his works have come under fire for issues of proper or sufficient context, like his Murdoch biography. Basically what I'm saying is there is probably a fair to decent chance this guy isn't the next Bob Woodward circa The Bush White House, and he didn't just author his first ironclad book that will be this administration's State Of Denial. Of course the Ivanka quotes about Trump's hair routine alone make me hope I'm wrong....

If nothing else, the author's shoddy history will probably give ample opportunity for the good faith conservative news outlets to ad hominem this guy pretty hard.

I think that's what it is. It's far too concise and rational of an explanation that fits in with events we already know, and Bannon usually spews nonsense. It's too good for Bannon to make up.

Re: Wolff:

Shortly after Trump’s inauguration, Wolff says, he was able to take up “something like a semi-permanent seat on a couch in the West Wing” — an idea encouraged by the president himself. Because no one was in a position to either officially approve or formally deny such access, Wolff became “more a constant interloper than an invited guest.” There were no ground rules placed on his access, and he was required to make no promises about how he would report on what he witnessed.

Trump’s lawyers have sent a cease-and-desist letter to Stephen K. Bannon  over his comments to the author of a tell-all book about the White House.

The lawyers are arguing he had violated a non-disclosure agreement in speaking about his time on the campaign and in Trump’s most trusted inner circle.

In a letter sent Wednesday night, Trump’s lawyers told Bannon his comments to author Michael Wolff in an soon-to-be-released tell-all book violate Bannon’s employment agreement with the president in numerous ways and also defame the president.

None of this makes sense, it's too obvious.

Looks like the big Virginia win for the Democrats fell through from a draw out of a hat.

I expect another lawsuit. That challenging of that ballot was fucking tomfoolery, and never should have been allowed to proceed.

Basically, it opens the door to challenging every single ballot after the recount is done in court. There also seem to be conflicting statutes about whether or not another recount can be requested after the tie.

A lawyer representing President Trump sought Thursday to stop the publication of a new behind-the-scenes book about the White House that has already led Trump to angrily decry his former chief strategist Stephen K. Bannon. The legal notice — addressed to author Michael Wolff and the president of the book’s publisher — said Trump’s lawyers were pursuing possible charges including libel in connection with the forthcoming book, “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House.”

The letter by Beverly Hills-based attorney Charles J. Harder demanded the publisher, Henry Holt and Co., “immediately cease and desist from any further publication, release or dissemination of the book” or excerpts and summaries of its contents. The lawyers also seek a full copy of the book as part of their investigation.
