That self own of equating conservative media with bullshitters and conspiracy grifters.

Most of us already know this, but it's nice to hear it said once in a while.

Cue the idiotic SJW definition of "free speech is just law only specific to the government" and then me explaining that is definitely false plus corporations should not have so much power to control and manipulate public discussion forums like the internet. I've had this shitty discussion a million times about this dumb talking point, find a better one I'm too tired today to do this all over again.

I did find a better one. The Stephen Miller plans are a grotesque assault on immigrants and part of a broader effort to change the demographic course of the US.

Rick Gates stole from Manafort who was broke, Manafort asked Rick Gates to use his Trump campaign connections to get one of his lenders a cabinet position.  :doge
Quote
Gates use his position in the Trump campaign to offer a series of favors to Stephen Calk, the founder and CEO of Federal Savings Bank, one of the banks that extended Manafort a loan in 2016.

First, Calk’s name was added to a list of national economic advisers to the campaign. Then, in November 2016, Manafort wrote Gates: “We need to discuss Steve Calk for Sec of the Army. I hear the list is being considered this weekend,” indicating that wanted Gates’s help getting Calk considered by the presidential transition for the job.

Everyone happy.  :doge

Who decided he could write policies anyway. He should go and watch Fox News and tweet about it while enriching himself like the other members of the cabinet smh

He writes policies because he’s the only one that actually gives a shit about any specific policy. Stephen Miller wants to kick out all the brown people, but everybody else is just there for the grift, corruption, or a future on Fox News.

Someone did a political compass of Trump admin figures. One axis was "wants dignity" vs. "wants notoriety" and the other was "in it for the money" vs. "in it for the racism."

Probably a third of the people on it have left by now but I wish I'd saved it.

Michigan gubernatorial candidate Abdul El-Sayed may be American-born, but he is a living embodiment of what has been called the "red-green axis."

Since Sayed is a self-styled progressive, it is not surprising that he has been warmly embraced by far-left "democratic socialists" Sen. Bernie Sanders and the suddenly famous U.S. House candidate from New York, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.  They are comrades in the struggle, after all.

The American left (the "red" side of the axis) is allied out of convenience with Islamists and sharia-supremacists (the "green" side), who want to fundamentally transform the United States of America – for the worst.

Their primary tools are name-calling and intimidation.  Their wealthy foundations fund nonprofits and campaigns focused on making our culture Islam-friendly while weakening our resolve to fight Islamic supremacism and the terrorism it deploys against us.

In Islam, deceiving non-Muslims is perfectly acceptable.  Sayed uses misdirection and dissimulation to avoid discussing the ugly, anti-American beliefs of his fellow Islamists.

But regardless of what he may say, Sayed, whose parents came from Egypt, is part of this red-green axis.

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/voters-double-kansas-congressional-race-ron-estes-faces/story?id=57090460
Quote
No matter the outcome of today’s GOP primary for Kansas’ 4th Congressional District, Ron Estes will win. The only question is, which one?

Republican Ron Estes is faced with an unlikely challenger: Ron Estes, a first time candidate who has dubbed himself “the Real Ron Estes” in campaign materials and on Twitter.

The incumbent will appear on the ballot as "Rep. Ron Estes," alongside opponent "Ron M. Estes." The congressman’s campaign staff hope voters can tell the difference.

“Our campaign has focused entirely on letting voters know just that their Congressman is listed as “Rep Ron Estes,” Josh Bell, a spokesman for Congressman Ron Estes’ campaign, told ABC News.

“The other guy – we’ve branded him as ‘The Imposter’. Our terminology to remind voters is, ‘M is for misleading,’” Bell said.

Meanwhile, the ‘Real Ron Estes’ campaign insists that “M is for ‘Merica.”

Bell said the sitting congressman’s campaign suspects foul play, calling the campaign an example of Democrats’ “dirty tricks.”

If the government regulates it, the government will decide what companies will have to allow on their networks. Just like it currently defines what is and is not speech, press, assembly, petition, etc. in regards to what is seemingly the absolutist language in the First Amendment.

We can disagree or not on what things should be protected under those clauses but I don't think anyone would deny we're not deciding what does and does not fall under them and to usually simplify under a single clause what is and is not speech that can be legislated against.
If they're treated as utilities they'll have to abide by the same free speech laws the government does. These corporations are also regulated regarding child porn, threats of violence against politicians and so on, should the government remove these regulations too or are you only concerned about the specific ones that encourage free speech? Also are you for or against net neutrality?
Apple, FB, YouTube, and Spotify are all just competitors for podcast distribution. These are like bookstores, not town squares. This isn't a slippery slope, it's where we've been for hundreds of years.
Oh c'mon, you can't be serious with these mental gymnastics.

Utilities have their rates, amount of profit allowed, and even number of individuals in each department regulated. Literally down to the individual. This kind of makes sense since they are the one source for your water/gas/electricity so you have to prevent customer gouging.

You can't say that these podcast distributors are utilities by the very fact that SEVERAL of them are to not host his content. This is as goddamn close to a digital version of a bookstore as I can imagine. If a town has 6 bookstores and five of them say that Harry Potter is satanic so they won't sell it, then you can bet your ass where PD will be lining up on release day.

As a matter of fact, it has never been easier than it is now to broadcast your message.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/onpolitics/2018/08/08/devin-nunes-audio-protecting-trump-rosenstein-impeachment-timing/943636002/

This Nunes audio "leak" story is fucking stupid. The crux of it seems to be him explaining why they aren't pushing harder for a Rosenstein impeachment and that they need to hold onto their seats. Here's the quotes from the article:
Quote
"So if we actually vote to impeach, OK, what that does is that triggers the Senate then has to take it up," he said, explaining that it could take away from other priorities of Congress.

He said everything would have to be dropped if impeachment was up for a vote. "So it's not a matter that any of us like Rosenstein. It's a matter of, it's a matter of timing."

"Do you want them to drop everything and not confirm the Supreme Court justice, the new Supreme Court justice?" he added.

Quote
"If Sessions won't un-recuse and Mueller won't clear the president, we're the only ones, which is really the danger," he says on the recording. "That's why I keep, and thank you for saying it by the way, I mean we have to keep all these seats."

I’m curious how Disney hasn’t fired Ike Perlmutter yet.

I’m also curious why does Ike Perlmutter give a shit about the VA is run?! Like it doesn’t make a lick of sense to me. Is he trying to get comic books put in the waiting rooms or something?
