One of the guys I play Xbox with is Canadian and he had a similar hernia surgery through the Canadian Healthcare System. Surgery was delayed three times over two months.

Also, if you ever have American non surgery to treat something not life threatening, multiple month waits are very common. I know multiple people who have had knee replacements who were on crutches for well over a month before getting in for the procedure. And oftentimes its a 3-6 week wait to even get in to see the specialist.
