https://www.yahoo.com/news/10-percent-tsa-workers-call-181130065.html

Quote
The slowly growing wave of sickouts among TSA workers reached 10 percent as the agency that provides security at the nation's airports acknowledged "many employees are reporting that they are not able to report to work due to financial limitations."

The Transportation Security Administration said Monday that the rate of unscheduled absences Sunday compared with a 3.1 percent rate on the same day one year ago.

The nation's 800,000 federal employees will miss their second paycheck this week as the government shutdown extends into its second month. About half of those employees, including about 50,000 airport security workers, are considered "essential" and are working anyway.

"While national average wait times are within normal TSA times of 30 minutes for standard lanes and 10 minutes for TSA Precheck, some airports experienced longer than usual wait times," TSA said in a statement.

So, are people really buying the "maybe those kids were singing and dancing to support the old man rather than mock him" explanation?

I haven't watched the full hour or whatever it is, but I've seen enough that it strikes me as some "they were saying Boo-urns" level cognitive dissonance.

It looks like they were jeering him and definitely not dancing in support or anything like that. Not even the defense coming from the kid and his mom say that. It doesn't seem as egregious as the original framing made it out to be though, and the Black Israelites aren't getting the scorn they deserve.

Are you disputing that a group that the SPLC calls a hate group instigated the situation that, by most accounts, the Native American group tried to de-escalate?

Clearly I am talking about the coverage (especially from the liberal blogosphere, as it were) the incident was getting in its initial phase of going viral and everyone trying to doxx the maga kids. There was zero mention of Black Israelites even being there. Come on, you know this Mandark.

So far I've seen a lot of people bring that up as a mitigating or exculpatory factor for how those kids behaved to the old dude, but haven't read what I'd consider a sufficient explanation why that's the case.

Bored college kids mocking old people they don't understand does not deserve such a worldwide tamper tantrum.

Here's an experiment. Grab a drum, go to a college, beat your drum, chant and walk towards a group of kids.
Now watch how many will mock or start jumping around you. Then call CNN/MSNBC and the others because by golly you've been harassed!

Oh I'm now seeing the wokeverse has moved on to "HAND SIGNS" apparently they have pictures of kids doing hand signs during sports on the website of the school.
As everyone knows. Like reading, hand signs are a gateway drug to GamerGate.

There are Hare Krishnas who dance and play music every weekend in a busy downtown area a few miles away from me. I've never seen anyone openly ridicule them for their music, their dancing, their clothes, etc.

Just because you would behave the same way as those kids doesn't make it universal.

It depends on the setting. If they're always there, standing in one spot doing their music thing it is pretty clear it is an act. We used to have the Peruvian Flute bands and of course the Jesus choirs.
We also have plenty of other street musicians in cities. However, send the more excentric types alone to a group of bored college kids and they'd probably be mocked.

The kid simply froze and did his default smug look because that's probably what he always does when he doesn't know what else to do and someone walks into his face with a drum.
The other kids jumped around, laughed and had no clue what was going on. JFK Jr. could've also easily turned around and was in no way attacked or surrounded.
Well maybe, by people trying to film these dramatic scenes.

I think the crazier thing is that Bill created some makeshift studio in his home so now he can rant whatever he wants. A mistake on going with a fully pay model to watch full videos, he might actually have some rabid fans share his videos if they were on youtube, and he did a patron model. Of course, he would have to know what patron is first in order to use it.

You can watch the Black Israelite video and see them calling the kids crackers and talking about how they are demons. And the kids are shitty fuckers in MAGA hats. If a meteor hit that spot in the ground and killed them all, we would all be in a better place.

There's a weird tolerated racism in high school sports in certain regions of the country. ESPN had an article, back when the magazine was good, about some schools in Indiana where the demographics made them almost all white or all black. And these schools got along just fine, kids were friends, etc. Then basketball season started, everybody segregated up, the team buses needed security escorts, parents would scream just unbelievable shit at the kids. And the kids would be summer teammates/friends of their own kids. Or they'd wind up on the same college team and all would be forgotten.

IIRC, Jason Williams and Randy Moss went to a consolidated school that initially had a similar situation when they were separate. So I have to imagine this is pretty normal in that whole basketball mad region.

Not to be excusing it or anything, just that reading that link reminded me of the story and how it'd just be a switch that went off for the season in these communities. And they just sorta, ignored it, otherwise.

Also iirc, in the ESPN story, the whites were more often doing the traditional racial slurs, harassing the buses, then disappearing type racism. With the players doing all the little in game slights/hits/trips/etc. possible. And the black kids were more likely to be the ones actually starting fights with the opposing players when provoked. (WHICH PROVED THEY WERE THUGS!)

There was a similar story about the Indiana Pacers once, especially in the ABA days, the blacks on the team were treated like stars by everyone. Blacks on other teams got shit. If you got traded there was leeway, but if you left as a FA, well get fucked nicca. (The Denver Nuggets had a similar history for a while.) But for the most part, Indianapolis (and Denver) wasn't seen as one of the leagues more racist cities/venues outside of the games.

The most recent "ugly fans" event that I can think of that was similar in tone of hatred, even though it was probably not entirely or at all racial, was the Utah Jazz fans that went apeshit on Derek Fisher. (The Stars/Jazz actually had one of the better "blacks in a not-black city" histories. Based on my readings of stuff from the era where this was really paid attention to, by players of both races, the late 1960s, the 1970s and early 1980s.)

Want to extra clarify not excusing this school, which seems to perhaps have greater issues, just that the basketball stuff linked reminded me of those stories. And from a complexities of racism situation I found those very interesting. Especially how racist the parents could be to their kids offseason friends, while saying it wasn't personal. Because in like this weird strange way, it wasn't completely, it was more that they were part of the wrong tribe at the moment. And even the black kids would see it that way and like the parent.

I'm not as familiar with the South as the Midwest/Appalachians but I have to imagine there's lots of this there too.
