I'd been wondering if Harris was going to do any sort of mea culpa about stuff from her career as a prosecutor, or retcon it, or defend it from a tough-on-crime perspective.

So far it's looking like retcon.

I have no interaction with this sort of thing anymore, but I've heard she's the heir apparent to Clinton. Probably a safe bet to just ride that machine to the nomination if what I heard was accurate.

You’re clearly referencing the Sybian here.

Roger Stone is doing a press conference.

"I will tell the truth"
"Also it was never proven the DNC server was ever hacked"

He's just going to throw InfoWars talking points into the mainstream media with these stunts.

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2019/01/bloomberg-building-data-organization-crush-trump/581710/
Quote
He’s not sure there is a realistic space in the Democratic primaries for his centrist record. And he almost certainly won’t run if Joe Biden does, members of his team believe.
Quote
This may yet turn into an effort on behalf of a Bloomberg campaign, with his advisers carefully watching Biden’s moves to help them decide what to do. They doubt there’s room in the Democratic field for both.
Quote
Whatever his concerns about Biden, Bloomberg has continued acting and sounding like a presidential candidate—making anti-Trump speeches in Virginia and Washington last week, blasting ex–Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz for flirting with an independent campaign on Monday, heading to New Hampshire to talk policy and eat pizza on Tuesday. But he and his team are carefully assessing the likely hard fit for his record and positions in the 2020 race as it’s shaping up.

“They feel like they have a candidate with potential, staff, dollars, strong name ID, and [they] are assessing the road ahead,” said one person who’s been in touch with Bloomberg’s team. “They know they can’t wait forever, but also understand that they have more bandwidth to assess the field and opportunities—more than many, if not most.”
Quote
But Bloomberg also looked at running for president in the past three elections—coming so close in 2016 that ads were scripted and a potential running mate selected—only to determine that he couldn’t win (though those times he planned to run as an independent, not a Democrat). He has been seriously considering a 2020 run since the summer, infuriated by nearly every decision of Trump’s presidency. Serious meetings about the data effort began in the fall.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg’s aides have continued asking around for intel on what Biden will do, believing there’s likely only room in the race for one of them.

Also Bill Weld is deciding today whether or not to run as a Republican or Libertarian. He told Reason the latter, but "sources" in Boston say the former. He has no shot as a Trump challenger in the GOP so I'd believe what he told Reason. :trumps

Quote
Priorities USA, a progressive group and the largest Democratic super PAC, is sending FOIA requests to nearly 70 different national and state agencies that either Howard Schultz or his corporate entities may have interacted with at any point between August 1987 and June 2018.

The group is gathering as much potential opposition research as they can on Schultz and his business in anticipation of his decision to possibly run for president as an independent. This is yet another example of liberals trying to push Schultz out of the 2020 race before he begins, in part because they view his candidacy as a "threat" that could be "a major step toward re-electing Donald Trump," Priorities USA communications director Josh Schwerin told Axios.

The FOIA requests span agencies like the National Labor Relations Board (in search of "investigations, complaints, sanctions, violations, or enforcement actions taken by the agency related to the business operations of Starbucks Corporation or its affiliates") to the Washington State Department of Ecology (in search of "environmental violations and subsequent penalties").

Many New York and Congressional Black Caucus lawmakers were also furious with Ocasio-Cortez after a recent Politico report stated she and the grass-roots group aligned with her, Justice Democrats, were considering backing a primary challenge to fellow New York Democrat Hakeem Jeffries, a Black Caucus member and establishment insider who succeeded Crowley as caucus chairman.

Both Ocasio-Cortez and Justice Democrats have denied the report, but the group of insurgent progressives has vowed to target centrist Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) and is eyeing other potential 2020 targets.
Quote
“She’s pissing off a lot of people and has probably made a lot of enemies. … A lot of people who are furious with her are Joe’s allies, including some named Crowley,” said the insider, referring to Crowley’s cousin, Elizabeth Crowley, a former New York City councilwoman. “She is a woman. She’s been moving more to the left. She would be someone interesting.”

Elizabeth Crowley, 41, did not return a request for comment, but she has previously said she’s eyeing a bid for Queens borough president in 2021.  She lives in a neighboring Queens district.
Quote
Hispanic Caucus members aren’t happy about those efforts but say they are taking a wait-and-see approach before intervening with Ocasio-Cortez, who joined the caucus this month.

“We’re going to protect our members and we’re going to protect our own. Full stop,” said centrist Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.), a former whip for the Hispanic Caucus.
