Won't be long before we discover it was Avenatti who wrote the Steele Dossier and colluded with Russia to kill Seth Rich.

Were there people who honestly expected the Mueller report to immediately lead to a perp-walk onto Marine One?

I'm sure some Twitter slacktivists did. But I would lie if I said I didn't expect something more juicy that would mire Trump up until the election and I think that's what most people hoped for (at the most something that could put impeachment on the table). If the summary is mostly truthful to the content, I think Trump is insulated from further inquiries into potentially foreign shady dealings (perhaps even domestic ones) for the rest of his mandate.

I think the Dems have plenty to campaign on regardless.

Is frustrating seeing a lot of people having a meltdown because of this stuff. Trump still looks like an asshole that make things worse for himself but somehow all of this justifies him.

She keeps comparing Climate Change to WW2 for some reason and that just doesn't work.
"The Manhattan project? You mean nuclear energy?"
"War on Climate? You want to bomb the Polar Ice?"

You gotta respect the hustle of Trump's AG making sure to point out in his briefing of the report that Mueller explicitly said "this is not an exoneration", Team Trump's media blitz is "total and complete exoneration".

The US media being dumb enough to take the bait wholeheartedly blows my mind.

11% is nothing to sneeze at. I don't actually understand it myself. Can someone explain Buttcheek's appeal?
Something new, not 1000 years old, articulates himself well, comes off fairly authentic(since that's like a thing now), has that Obama appeal of being able to appeal to the base but not scare moderates....Also hasn't had the chance to get eaten up by the various cynical lefty factions.

The one thing I will say I appreciate about him, like Warren, is he actually offers a theory of governance that isn't just a bunch of empty come together bullshit.

Trump live tweeting the Democratic debates is going to be lit.

Anyway, the Dem primary seems like the GOP primary in 2012.
All sorts of hopefuls but everyone knows that Romney Biden is going to be nominated anyway.

I have no idea. But his last tweet was that he was gonna have a press conf tomorrow exposing some major corruption scandal at Nike tomorrow. Maybe someone did tip him off with some legit info, but then he used it to try to blackmail them?

The L.A. charges are good ol' bank fraud. Using another client unrelated to all of this mess money to pay off his own personal debts or something and not telling about it.

I believe he made a lot of noise about the press conference then contacted Nike and said they could call it off if they agreed to pay 1+ million to his client, open an internal investigation and more importantly take him on a retainer for that arbitration at a very hefty price. It's apparently way above what could be considered acceptable even for an aggressive push for settlement.

The fraud charges are another case entirely.

I believe benji responded to me a while back that Avenatti was heavily in debt or bankrupted his practice ? Don't remember the specifics but bad reputation and red flags dating back from before him going ham with the Stormy Daniels case.

so my speculation was right on the money then. So there are different charges: extortion, and an unrelated charge for using his clients' money improperly.

According to the complaint, Avenatti met March 19 with attorneys for Nike and threatened to release what he said were allegations of misconduct by employees on the eve of both its quarterly earnings call and the start of the NCAA tournament.

Avenatti would disclose the allegations at a press conference, he said, according to the complaint, unless Nike made millions in payments to him and an unnamed co-conspirator by hiring them to conduct an "internal investigation," for which he later requested between $15 million and $20 million. Avenatti also allegedly demanded that Nike pay $1.5 million to an individual he claimed to represent.

In Southern California, federal prosecutors accused Avenatti of embezzling from a $1.6-million lawsuit settlement payment that belonged to a client, Gregory Barela of Irvine.

They also said he submitted fictitious tax returns to a Mississippi bank in 2014 to secure $4.1 million in loans to his Newport Beach firm, Eagan Avenatti, and his troubled coffee business, Global Baristas US, which operated Tully’s outlets in California and Washington state.

Mark Pearson, chief of the IRS criminal investigation office in Los Angeles, said Avenatti used his ill-gotten gains “to fuel an unrestrained and lavish lifestyle” that cost $200,000 a month to maintain.

At a news conference with Pearson in downtown L.A., U.S. Atty. Nick Hanna took issue with Avenatti’s description of himself on his preferred social media platform of Twitter: “Attorney, Advocate, Fighter for Good.”

“The allegations in this case describe something different: A corrupt lawyer who instead fights for his own selfish interests by misappropriating close to $1 million that rightfully belonged to one of his clients,” Hanna said.

Healthcare issue is complicated in US. Privatization has skyrocketed prices across the board that many seek socialised healthcare. As someone who lives in a socialised healthcare country that people are scared to lose. It also performs terribly across the board, which ironically is due to open border immigration within the EU. The US doesnt have the infrastructure for it. You need less corruption. Which POTUS has been in an ongoing fight with big pharma thus far.

One thing about Trumo is how crazy bad his political instincts are.

He knows how to play to his diehard base, and that’s it. This is the best news cycle he’s had in a year, and he’s going to squander it by spiking the football, and then announcing a policy that will, if successful, throw 100 million people of their health insurance in an election year. I’m sure McConnell would love to have the responsibility of continuously vetoing Medicare for All in an election year after 20% of his state gets thrown off of the Medicaid expansion.

Actually, it seems to have gotten a lot worse in recent years. In 2015, the average waiting time to see a GP was 10 days, 13 in 2016, 17 in 2017.

This is from Manchester from a few weeks ago: https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/take-long-doctors-appointment-15957585
And if Brexit happens, Great Britain is going to lose a huge amount of medical personnel.

Yeah Brexit is a complete clusterfuck, but as I understand it waiting time increases has been a pretty across the board issue in a lot of developed countries as the baby boomer generation starts to retire.
