Thinking that people voting for Warren would vote for Bernie had she dropped out at this point is a little weird. They’d be Biden all the way.

Yeah, Liz is a moderate so it makes sense.

It's really galling for Warren to be out there claiming when we need stimulus while #Mike2020 is truly one to #GetItDone by pouring millions of dollars into the hands of people who clearly cannot accomplish anything on their own.

Also Pete and Amy will be in the debate thanks to their good performance in Iowa and NH, while Beto will also be invited due to the massive enthusiasm and Obama like movement he leads.

How is Bernard even allowed to get DEMOCRATIC delegates when he's not a Democrat? The party should strip those from him and give them to Biden. Now. Or else I won't vote in November. I might not even vote next week.

I mean, as down as I am, I can't deny how much farther left we've shifted the discourse. It's too bad that's all we've done.  The way we perceive and talk about these issues has changed, for all the good that talking and perceiving will do us in the days to come.

Least the president won't be a global danger.

Edit: i'm being too dramatic. I need to save this for later.

Seems that San Antonio number is outdated but Texas has counted only 60%.

Makes sense Sanders would lose Houston as it's an oil/gas city. Looks to take Austin, El Paso, and San Antonio.

Really I do think the bernie people should take heart, if they lose while we go into this recession it'll probably put a lot of rhetorical fire into the movement.

It's really been net positive these last few years. Change is slow.

Sounds like something a naive college who just started paying attention to politics would say.

I didn't say that to him. I basically said he's young. I've been through the Democratic pony show since I was a teenager and I'm almost in my mid 30's. Hearing,"change is slow" "sometimes you have to sacrifice for the better future" to someone that's been doing that for years makes me lose patience.

I used to believe everything he's been trying to get to me. I'm past that point.

I didn't say you just started paying attention to politics. But to say,"change is slow" "choose the lesser of the evils" while expressing the virtues of the democratic party to someone in their mid-30's that, at 18, was a literal card carrying member, is hilarious to me.

Bad way to get through to someone like me at least.

There are a whole bunch of arguments towards Sanders being 1) uniquely electable and/or 2) able to pass his agenda that are not aging well.

Note those aren't arguments about his actual platform being superior to eg Biden's, but being right doesn't get you any prizes.

Americans don't care about platform.

Another thing to learn from this is the turn out. Before today I thought conclusively that Biden can't beat Trump. But the turn out for him is massive. I think he can.

The problem is there is one obstacle for Biden going forward: his weakness - debates. Bernie will try to pound him on the 15th. And if Biden clenches the nom, I think Biden will lose to Trump's bullying. But given this turnout I wonder if they'll come out to ride for Biden anyways.

I mean, if his platform is shit and they're voting for him, maybe they don't even care if he bombs debates. Trump bombed debates and still won. If they rally that much behind Biden then he may still eke out a W.

Slow your roll there, just to pick a state that's larger and near 100% results, Biden currently is sitting at 36% of what Trump got in Massachusetts. Trump lost MA 60-33.

edit: he's also sitting far below both Hillary and Bernie last time, with a total D turnout that looks about the same

Of course Biden can beat Trump. Could lose to him too. It'll come down to the same five or so states as last time. Turnout looks to be up but not quite to 2008 levels, which is encouraging but not determinative.

Well, even though Texas obviously isn't in more than 71% in we can look at it and see just how far the gap is versus a general election, not even a Presidential one.

2020 D Primary:
Biden - 460,807
Sanders - 436,928
Bloomberg - 241,585
Warren - 177,626
Buttigieg - 78,954
Klobuchar - 40,968

2016 D Primary
Clinton - 936,004
Sanders - 476,547

2016 Presidential Election
Trump - 4,685,047
Clinton - 3,877,868
Johnson - 283,492

2018 Senate Election
Cruz - 4,260,553
O'Rourke - 4,045,632

2016 R Primary
Cruz - 1,241,118
Trump - 758,762
Rubio - 503,055
Kasich - 120,473
Carson - 117,969
Jeb! - 35,420 (Declared Winner)

If Joe's lead doesn't get too much bigger in Texas, and Bloomberg stays just viable, he and Benard are basically walking away with nearly the same amount of delegates. Even though Joe "won" with this "massive turnout" supposedly.

This was the argument a week ago for why Bernie wasn't going to end it all on Super Tuesday so nobody should concede anything to him. Nothing's changed except they get to mark a bunch of states in Joe's color because he came in first, often barely* from looking at a lot of these states.

*because of the way the D's allocate delegates, a ten point win in Minnesota with a third candidate viable is way less huge than say, NC where he won by 18 and only him and Bernard are viable.

Sanders - 476,547

Well, it's not lower turnout. If you combine the non Biden and Sanders votes there's still a total of additional 539,133 votes‬ without all the votes in. Which, when combined with Biden's votes is more than Hillary's 2016 total.

The real story here is that Sanders has a less votes in 2020 than in 2016 (although still counting).

Interesting to me is how much Amy dropped in Minnesota. She was polling at 30% last week. She dropped out YESTERDAY and is only getting 5%. (Pete was at 7% he's getting 1% there.)

I'm way used to the old days when I grew up where you had to send a letter with a guy to the convention so he could drop you out because even a telegraph message would be too slow.

Last Week: Amy+Biden+Pete = 45%

He polled lower than he did in 2016 and got fewer votes in the early states too.

Of course the argument was there were more candidates, but if he'd really been electorally strong then there wouldn't have been that many candidates pulling away so many voters. They would have been winnowed out early or stuck in the 1-2% range.

Democratic presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg will reassess on Wednesday whether he should stay in the race after getting disappointing results in Super Tuesday primaries despite spending more than a half billion dollars on his three-month campaign.

A person close to the Bloomberg campaign confirmed the deliberations. The person wasn’t authorized to discuss the matter by name and requested anonymity. Bloomberg flew back to New York after campaigning Tuesday in Florida, a state that votes March 17 and where he’s already spent millions.

It's tough to say but my candidate may not be viable. We will have to see how he performs against Biden in the rust belt. If he loses those I see him bowing out graciously.

Not hard is it, Warren stans?

The Movie Blob and PoliEraElites are epic Warren fans. So I just assume anyone who supports her has similar views.

Wait, what are Occam's views on Elizabeth Warren? :hmm
