The reason warnings are easy to make fun of is that there have been quite a few shit ones either because they targeted innocuous posts or they are just complete bullshit to begin with (""""""disingenuous argument"""""") and the system rubs it in your face.

Yeah I don't get the complaints here;  they actually tell people to stop dogpiling on Resetera, unlike GAF, where the dogpiled would end up banned and the thread would stay focused on them sometimes for days after.  On the surface the warnings seem like thought policing but in the end if a thought is going to get dog piled on then "policing" those thoughts is a form of dog piling policing too.  A long as the dog piling is also curtailed it makes sense to me.   It's easier to try to get people to chill out on posting thougths that are just going to get dog piled in the end though; "shoot the hostage" sort of situation.

If they were going there effectively moderate a discussion, preventing dog piling would be the way to go. I’ve rarely seen them do that though. They SHOULD be warning the dog pilers themselves. Especially the ones responding to a controversial statement with pointless or passive aggressive shit posts (ex: “oh wow”, “really? really??”, “Can’t believe someone went there”, etc). They instead warn and ban users who engage in wrongthink. It’s really no different than it was on GAF because ultimately they’re using it to enforce their personal opinions on a subject, rather than acting as a neutral observer and allowing the discussion to go where it may.

They use different methods to achieve the same results. So again, it’s really no different at all. Any sort of meaningful discussion is strangled in its infancy. So their ban policy isn’t as heavy handed as GAF’s was. Who cares when the end result is the exact same thing?

If we'd spice our food it'd be cultural appropriation. Either we get made fun of or be a literal nazi. Stay losing white people. :'(

Nah, us Europeans spiced our food for millenia, it's just knowledge the emigrants forgot to take with them to America. As a nice European, I'll happily grant all white Americans permission to spice food any way they see fit though.

It’s really no different than it was on GAF

A "warning" on GAF was a 30 day ban, if not 60 or 90 days.  It's not "no different" whatsoever;  it was rare you saw an actual WARNING on GAF.. they just banned people, for extensive as hell times.

That's pretty damn different.

Still, the type of thing people are getting warned over is ridiculous.

It's a "all white people = WASPs" thing.

The whole "cultural" conversation surrounding food in America is just too fucking dumb. If I have to read one more thinkpiece because a white chef put something different in their vaguely asian noodles...

I mean, you guys realize that press don't play games in the same environments you do, right?

I uploaded a video of a game a few months back and the reaction to it was "They couldn't get someone who has touched a game in this series before to play this?"

Or "Does this guy even play games at all?"

The footage came from a loud event, where that game was the last game I played, while a PR person talked in my ear the entire time. I was also starting from a middle section without a tutorial and thinking of questions for my interview later. And then I watched the footage again and it was completely fine? It wasn't a speedrun, but there was nothing terrible or bad about it.

To be clear from the outset: I mean a separate gaming section (or EtcetEra as well) in which users post in Japanese.

With all of the excitement and positivity with the launch of this wonderful new site, I think a lot of us are coming up with new ideas and suggestions. I'm currently studying in Japan, and the idea of hosting Japanese posters on the forum popped into my head today and I kept thinking about it.

For a very long time, there has been a split online among Western and Japanese gaming fans. Every so often, we used to get threads that translated posts or showed poll results from Japanese gaming fans, and the community seemed to be really interested in that perspective.

The idea here is to mend that gap in order to have Western and Japanese gaming fans under one umbrella. This would make the overall community more diverse and would facilitate an exchange of ideas between different cultures.

Let's mend the gap by having a section written in a language 99% of the current userbase can't read !
:insane

As far as I can tell, this thing happen in forums organically if at all.

Herbs, salt, butter, and lard isn't spice. For North and West Europe, I still don't understand how the food is so lightly spiced. The UK had India for so long, where many of the world's spices originate from, and for the most part the UK ignored it.

Kinda unrelated to this thread, but it looks like more companies have pulled their ads from Youtube. This time it has nothing to do with the videos the ads are shown on, but rather the type of comments left next to the video. Specifically explicit comments left on children's videos.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-42110068

As if like people think that an advertisement on a video has any relation to an explicit comment made in the comment section.

I can see Youtube eventually just turning off comments. That is the only surefire way of ensuring those types of comments aren't posted

I wonder if advertisers can just choose to only be displayed next to no comments videos. That would seem to be a solution.

YouTube might not currently give that option, though since they likely feel they know better than advertisers, and also maybe prefer showing on video comments because people come back to the same video over and over again for said comments.

And some more choice quotes:

Quote from: Kthulhu, post: 1362778, member: 955
I imagine most of the people who have these openly displayed either don't get many visitors or have very accommodating roommates.
Quote from: Einbroch, post: 1365304, member: 1319
Or we just don’t care. I know, it’s so weird being comfortable with yourself to the point where you can openly display the things you like.

Family, friends, neighbors, etc have all seen my colllection. And guess what? The worst I’ve gotten is ‘well, whatever makes you happy’ and it’s never brought up again. My neighbor’s seven year old kid loves them, she thinks they’re ‘real pretty’. My wife’s boss thinks they’re works of art.

Stereotypes are fun, I suppose.

I would like to say, as someone who also buys animu figures, in response to that line:
:neogaf :girlaff :crowdlaff :nope :goldberg :cmonson

Quote from: empty feat, post: 1365408, member: 25938
So you're comfortable with sexualization of a teenager?

I'm not trying to be hostile btw, I'm just honestly curious about whether people consider the connotations involved with pieces like this, esp of younger characters.

Quote from: Einbroch, post: 1365581, member: 1319
Makoto is a strong character whose problems are not specific to those of an underage person, and she has the body of someone who could pass for 20+.

If you have problems with some of the ‘1000 year old loli dragons’ then that’s another story, but I really don’t see any issues with this figure, outside of I just don’t like the pose that much.

Quote from: Echo, post: 1365645, member: 24567
There are no connotations to consider. No feelings to hurt. She isn't real. Why do people insist on pretending otherwise?

People can like whatever they want when it comes to Art and shit. The moment such fancies carry over to realty, then we rightfully have a problem.

A question like that isn't designed to elicit proper conversation, you're just looking to alienate, conform to western groupthink, and claim some assumed moral highground on behalf of a fictitious character.

Also I had no idea they made a toy of this.  LMAO.

Usually he doesn't cover video games but since he just finished Cuphead himself he came across an interesting controversy. In the video below he breaks down how the alt-right and GamerGate remnants have created a fake controversy that SJW's and video game critics are labeling the game is racist when that is not at all the case.

Amazing. They just had a 10+ page thread labeling it problematic and racist. Now that's all imagined.

I feel like sexy anime statue figures are kind of lame, but it’s not really all that important either.

I also have a lot of vidya and comic action figures on my desk, so who am I to judge? None
Have squishy boob features however.

I would like to say, as someone who also buys animu figures, in response to that line:
:neogaf :girlaff :crowdlaff :nope :goldberg :cmonson

So what's your opinion on all of this?  You are just posting opinions of both fans of these figures and detractors and laughing.. reminds me of Amirox putting down pedos.

It's another toy for nerds and who cares if you like it or hate it.  It's just always the same thing with NeoGAF and now ResetEra having anything remotely "sexy" get shit on and derailed by the people who find it "gross."  Dude was asking for it by creating a thread for it in the first place though.  They have a figure thread...post it there.

As for the latter, I have a problem with figures made of little girls and (actual) sexual stuff.  There's some really sick shit that gets made in Japan and I guess it's your Amirox types buying it, although I don't think anyone on the forums has ever posted that they have that stuff.  I do wonder about the posters with the hentai "ahegao" avatars though.

By the way I can't help to notice you typed PEDO in your message. :thinking

I think 17, 18, 19 year olds can be sexy, I know better than to act on it but I'm not going to shame myself or anyone else for thinking "would." I'm double that age FWIW.

Obviously when you are talking about actual children and have Cream style avatars, I'm going to think something is up.

I don't get the appeal of Hyperlewd anime figures, I like lewd stuff butb I have limits in behalf of figures.

The show had a number of hosts:

Greg Kinnear (1991–1995)
John Henson (1995–1999)
Hal Sparks (1999–2000)
Aisha Tyler (2001–2002)
Joel McHale (2004-2015)

I don't remember Greg Kinnear and Hal Sparks as hosts, but I do remember John Henson because of that patch of white hair he had, heh.

And now moving from figures back to video games:

"Is there a reason why 2B is so exposed in NieR: Automata?"

Interesting seeing more people liking the design and ass in your face here, though.  :lol
