Take that same userbase and set of sub-reddits and convert it into a normal threaded discussion format and you'd have a better place to discuss things.
You'd have an unreadable mess where a hundred people reacting to one asshole can derail a thread for a dozen pages. On Reddit, you collapse that assholes comment with a single click and forget about the ensuing mess forever, while you pursue other threads (or join the cirklejerk below the top comment
).
That's why you have moderation for when things get out of hand.

Try going to, I don't know, The Doland and make posts in which you are critical of Trump, see how long you last. People love reddit because they can easily find like-minded people and downvote people they don't like. I.E. the very fucking definition of Echo Chamber. I don't know how anyone who criticized GAF for being one can stand it.
