"At first, these soldiers had to pull the prisoners out of the camp, knowing they'd be killed. And the labor wasn't the point of the labor camps. Not at all. They would have the prisoners haul sacks of rocks from one part of the camp to the other. And those that didn't, well, they made them strip naked and sleep outside in the snow. At first, these guards were burying the bodies. Inch by inch, man, they'd go along with it. The next week they were shooting the prisoners. By the end, they were torturing the prisoners. They lost their humanity bit by bit. I mean, these guys were real jerks."
