From what i've seen it's fairly pretty for an RPG, it doesn't look like they just made a handful of buildings and just copied them 100 times, and the environment art (trees, leaves, grass) looks very natural and believable. The armour system also gives you a lot of options to tinker around with.

But not really a fan of medieval rpgs. Hopefully the fan mods people will make will put the base game to shame

'Nazi' rule outside of Nazi Germany lasted about 4/5 years for most countries, 8 years for some caught early in the spiders web.
Communist rule lasted generations and devastated countries like Eastern Germany, Poland, Ukraine etc. .

In the context of the cold war, it didn't matter if the USSR was run by Commies, ultra-Catholic faschists (like Franco) or just a feudal king, it would have sucked to live under Soviet/Russian rule as a republic or satellite state. not really. Mussolini was initially among left nationalists, but that didn't even last through WW1. His fascist movement as early as 1920 gained steam by being an anti-socialist party aiming to destroy workers' protests in Italy (which was something invoking fear of communism). Particularly communism was the main (not defined by race) enemy in fascism, even more so when Italy had to subject itself to German fascism.

On the other hand, dictatorships right after WW2 like Eastern Germany were justifying their authority on the supposed basis of being the only ones being truly anti-nazi/fascist.

Whats the story behind the game anyways?  Know nothing about this Kingdom developer.

The game is a medieval RPG based in a realistic setting of Bohemia during the XV. When it was announced, people started to complain about the lack of "diversity" in the game. One of the main producers is kind of a outspoken dick with some GG esque opinions (to Resetera standards). The game is selling well regardless.

Listen, even if I don’t think I need to consider them when deciding not to give Vavra money, I also don’t agree (at least not without context) that we should blame people for continuing to work at the studio. Getting food on the table, paying rent, supporting your family, etc. is obviously not something I can expect someone to give up. And trying to make internal progress is a thing worth doing if you feel you can actually accomplish it, yes.

But unless the people at Vice you’re discussing have direct control of every little thing Waypoint publishes and can edit without restraint, the situations are not really comparable in the way you’re going for here. It’s not like Vavra is a distant executive who only cares about whether the game is bringing in money or something; he’s literally the creative director of the game. He has free reign to do anything he wants to it.

Waypoint is (as far as I can understand) less directly affected by Vice’s issues than the people working at Warhorse are by Vavra, and also have more control of what they’re working on than those people at Warhorse do. They also likely have a greater ability to affect the company internally when it comes to policies and rules, as at the end of the day nothing anybody at Warhorse does is going to limit Vavra’s influence unless he is not directly working on the game.

It is also worth noting that the podcast we’re discussing mentions that all these things they’ve pushed for have been/are being acted on.

They have been held back from responding to some things immediately/in full by lawyers or otherwise their union (which was making its own statement first in that case, I believe?) in the past, that much is true. But that does not mean they don’t want to discuss something whenever that happens.

Waypoint can do anything (as long is approved by the Union).
