I do sometimes wonder about how so many old dudes are sexual predators. Like I kind of see three competing impulses as I age.

1) I care less about what people think of me and am more bold
2) my standards of attractiveness broaden with time
3) but I alsl just am not as hyper sexual.

At this point I find 3 basically outweighs 1 and 2. Like I can appreciate a chick is attractive, but I’m not like “maybe I should grab her by the pussy and see what’s up”, because 1) who’s got time for that and 2) I’m in a committed relationship where I’m having sex basically 3-4x a week, and I just don’t need or want it any more than that. It’s not like when I was 25 and I would beat off after my girlfriend left.

I guess at some point 1/2 for some people are changing faster than 3 and you’re just like “fuck it finger her in this business meeting and see how it goes”.

Not gonna lead myself out of the window too far regarding the US justice system, but it's my impression that the accused can sue their accuser until the latter runs out of money and/or accepts a gag order/settlement.

I don't think the main threat is a counter-suit from the abuser (it's really hard to win a defamation case in the US, and the discovery process would involve turning over a ton of potentially incriminating documentation), but you're right about them having the resources to run out the clock. Add in the expected career and social damage of making an accusation? Yeah.

I’m pretty sure Richard is clean. His private persona is reportedly the same as his public persona. Listen to Finding Richard Simmons, the fatasses he helped, he’d still call them weekly, even after they were better, for years. He comes across as incredibly emotional and earnest. I don’t think he’d be able to live with knowing he sexually assaulted or harassed someone. Honestly, I think Richard Simmons is the only compelling evidence of a benevolent god. This A list agent who has been portrayed on the big and small screen is about to be hit by a flood of sexual harassment allegations. It is about time.

This is apparently about Ari Emanuel, portrayed (in “inspired by” form) by also-rapist Jeremy Piven on Entourage. It’s really cool that both the real person and the actor that portrays him are both legit rapists. Maybe Piven was just doing research for deep method acting? Being that Ari was within one degree of Obama, one has to wonder about the former president as well.

NBC has fired Matt Lauer, the longtime host of its "Today" show, as a result of what the network labeled "inappropriate sexual behavior."

Lauer's firing was also reported Wednesday morning by "Today" show anchor Savannah Guthrie.

"On Monday night, we received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer. It represented, after serious review, a clear violation of our company's standards," NBC News chairman Andrew Lack said in a memo. "As a result, we've decided to terminate his employment.
