Yeah it kinda sucks that they want no part of the ending, despite them hand waving it, I feel it's a huge part of enjoying the movie commentary

Also, the CG in the 2011 movie is fucking godawful, but the movie itself is fine. I guess if you're a The Thing megafan (I mean why wouldn't you be I guess? :thinking ) it might be a slap in the face or something, but I thought it was surprisingly decent (after expecting the worst... seriously that CG is so fucking bad.)

Hearing about them cutting all the practical effects and replacing them with awful CGI at the last minute is just a kick in the balls.

But I read that the company that made the practical effects ended up making their own movie inspired by The Thing. I'll have to check that out.

For the record it was one of these two fucks that replaced the good effects with shit CG:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_Abraham
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Newman_(producer)

Fun fact: the writer for The Thing 2011 also wrote the ANOES remake, Final Destination 5, Lights Out, and...

Arrival. For which he got an Oscar nom. :lol

It's a mind fuck to imagine something as complex and involving so much advanced planning as a FX heavy film production being altered so radically so late at the drop of an hat. It's true that you often can only judge if the overall result is working when you start having an image closer to the final results but still... Supposedly the producers thought it looked dated, but like didn't you approve this choice and the treatment submitted every step of the way ? Baffling and it probably cost them a pretty penny too.

A shame because the practical effects looked more than decent in those short clips.

It matters to me in that it's an extra bit of colour to the question of the trust state between the two chars at the end.

It's something fun to think about, and I think everyone has an opinion on it, but it doesn't affect my enjoyment of the movie.

Why? It seems pretty easy to make new content for it.

I gotta be honest though, the only PreRec I've watched was the first Friday the 13th stream with Jay. But it was fine.

"we've said everything/repeating ourselves" "too little growth"

It was an okay format, I watched it occasionally. Even when they were too cynical and grumpy even for my taste, it was still more bearable than all the professional shills talking about games on the internet.

Seems like they're tired of it, which is fair. I didn't realize they'd been going for 4 years, that is a pretty long time for something like this consistently.

I would pay RLM $15 a month for more Jim and Colin content. That’s maybe the most entertaining re:View.

Also it was very clear that pre rec had become mildly irritating for them to do. I don’t know why Rich always insisted on responding to stupid shit.

10/10 Female cop always gets her man
15 April 1999 | by Tim-16 – See all my reviews

Cec Verrell plays one super-tough cop in this action thriller. She is a beautiful lieutenant with the Honolulu P.D. fighting criminals non-stop. Whether shooting them down with a shotgun, M-16, or handgun, she will stop at nothing to get her man. Wanted dead or alive does not apply to this movie because she takes them (over a dozen victims, yes they must be said to be victims of this super cop) in always in the same condition... dead!

Holy shit. They really managed to pull a bunch of major points out. It's less impressive when we recognize that it's not only Star Wars, but a heist movie, and a Disney movie, so they just have to spot-check things across the intersection in that Venn Diagram, but still…

Would have been curious to see more about Silk but I'm not super surprised it's a bore fest. The other film I've watched from the director Cirio H. Santagio in the same vein, Angel Fist (starring daughter of hairstylist Vidal Sassoon) wasn't exactly thrilling either.
