Well actually since we're on this subject, I consider normal trolling that is just lighthearted or even just slightly malicious to be among the most beautiful of forum interactions, so the fact that trolling is bannable in all its forms because people can't take a joke really neuters the entire forum except certain subcommunities where uptight losers haven't ruined "the vibe" yet.

honestly unsurprising to me in a sports community where last year Cairo rioted and people were killed. Over a single game. People are so emotionally invested in team sports that you'd think fans were physically maimed whenever a loss occurred.

On reddit, I saw a pic of a bar after their team just won a game. People in the bar were lifting up this dude who looked to be in his 50s. He was completely naked, covered in white hair, with his very hairy butthole pointed toward the camera, and I looked like as many dudes n the bar as possible were trying to touch his dick. Just about everyone had a glass of beer in their hand and everyone looked absolutely elated. And now I’m a soccer fan.

It's part of the culture if you grow up in it you can kinda understand why. Football clubs are a huge part of a local community's identity. You have your kids playing in the club's youth system, your dad takes you to the games and you stick with the club your entire life. If 'your' team loses, a part of you and your community loses. It's actually quite fascinating, but of course this mindset brings out the worst in some people.

edit: And the "performance" in the stands becomes a part of the game. If you were louder than the other team's fans or beat them up or whatever, you 'won' regardless of the result on the field.

Instead of handling it like a professional company and dealing with your shit internally, they decided to make it point to throw these employees under the bus - publicly, going as far as treating them like they attacked the community as a whole (including the other guy who just defending a co-worker). That is completely out of line. They created a controversy where they wasn't. They handled it in the worst way possible.
