I think the best way to handle criticism is don't take it personally. If women have issues with being called females then do what y'all do with your buddy Matt who doesn't want to be called Matthew, call him Matt. A lot of men have trouble with feedback, criticism, etc because they can't stand being wrong or just not on the right side.
