Basically the DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) has a membership that is widely believed to be whiter and has more education than the working class as a whole which is understandably a source of much angst and self-criticism when your politics is centered around the emancipation and self-determination of the working class. Matt Yglesias, who believes that politics should be centered around the wisdom of highly educated dipshits like himself, thinks this angst is silly.

A lot of Frost's ideas come from Reed. For example the preeminence of class, the need for a labor party, community is bad.

Also Reed was recently disinvited from giving a speech to NYC DSA because of his criticisms of Black Lives Matter and the New York Times wrote a story about it because the CIA ordered them to play up divisions in American socialist movement.
