Real talk though, they have said that dragons are very smart. I have no idea why people have an issue with Drogon destroying the throne. Now flying off to his home planet with Dany tho...

Speaking of power vacuums, is there a single lord in either realm that is on par with Sansa for her hand in marriage? You could say Bronn or fucking Gendry but it seems to me that Sansa would be marrying beneath her station.

That's why I made the Queen Elizabeth I reference in my tl;dr post. Unless she marries for ~true love~ (which I'm sure her deceased brother would caution against could he) there's no logical marriage as alliance available.

Maybe in 50 years Doofus Karstark, first of his name, will marry some Tully or whatever and defuse regional tensions a la Dorne but that's way down the line.

The Throne was like the ring from LOTR. Only those who don't seek power were immune (Ned, Robert, Bran).

The red priests, the blood magic, the lord of light, prophecies, they had some neat tricks but it was all bullshit that meant nothing.

Anyhow, between the North keeping its independence and handing Bronn the most wealthy lands (the Lannister mines ran dry as Tywin mentioned) they're setting themselves up for another terrible decade.
Also, I might've missed him but I didn't see Gendry Baratheon at the council meeting. Probably plotting somewhere to retake the throne too.

Tyrion's arc is surprisingly the saddest. He directly or indirectly kills most of his family and friends and finally he convinces Jon to kill the one person he believed in as well.

Also a big L to Grey Worm. Yes, the Northmen and probably the Knights of the Vale and Dornish were camped outside Kings Landing.
Still, he had all the lords and ladies in one place and could've easily had the Unsullied kill them all, thus 'Breaking the Wheel'.

After all it was Petyr Baelish who set all these people up to start the war and it still seems like most of them didn't realize he was the sole architect of most of the conflicts between the great houses.

Maybe that‘s what Arya is doing, find a brother in law. :thinking

The best method is to wait a few years and see which house could become dangerous in the future and try to control them and keep them loyal via marriage.

Before you ask, yes, I have played Crusader Kings II as you can see. :smug

One of the spin offs is probably The Legend of Arya: The Wind Waker.
She had not once brought up this idea of heading west or using a boat to do anything.

The Starks also have ships now and she's a captain that knows how to command a ship.

I mean her brother is King of the 6 Kingdoms, I'm sure he can commandeer a boat for her.

Entire thing was a bit silly but where she got the boat from is hardly some unsolved mystery.
You mean, after Davos has a back and forth with Bronn about if they should fund ships or brothels?

- Stannis takes control of the Royal Fleet when Robert dies
- Tyrion destroys most of the Royal Fleet with Wildfire during the battle of the blackwater
- Stannis takes the remainder of the Royal fleet (a handful of ships) and sails beyond the wall to 'save' Jon Snow
- Cersei notices the lack of a fleet at Kings Landing and allies herself with Euron and the Iron Fleet
- Grey Worm tries to take Casterly Rock, surprise attack from Euron destroys the Unsullied fleet
- Dany moves with her army to Kings Landing from Dragonstone. Euron destroys their ships. Leaving them stranded.
- Dany has to wait for Jon Snow to walk from Winterfell to Kings Landing with the rest of her armies
- Dany burns the Iron Fleet and every other ship in King's Landing
- A new King has been picked
- Grey Worm leaves for Naath with the Unsullied taking seemingly every ship with him
- The North is ravaged by the Night King and depleted from the wars. Thousands of Northmen are still camped outside Kings Landing waiting for Sansa to broker for peace with the Unsullied
- Bronn prioritizes spending on brothels vs. spending on ships
- Arya magically acquires a ship and a crew for this fun idea she has

I dunno, a ship seems like a rare and valuable commodity not something you can just grab and run off with.

The same with how fast they had seemingly rebuild the red keep. I guess those Dothraki are pretty good builders?

- In the exciting scene where Bran unexpectedly turns King they placed him in the middle of the group. Already in the position of the King.
- Bran says to Tyrion at Winterfell: "I can't be a lord of anything I'm the 3 eyed raven now" in Kings Landing he says: "Why do you think I came all the way here?"
- Grey Worm leaves the 7 Kingdoms forever. Thus Jon didn't have to be exiled. Grey Worm wouldn't have known if Jon came back.
- Sansa is crowned Queen of the North. Yet Bran has no crown.

Just saw it, anyway.
Shosta's spoiler all in all wasn't that bad, 'cause the moment wasn't really played like a big twist in the first place, and i'm fine with how things ended in general.
Writing has been shit for a while, as we've said plenty, it's not like some of the shit in here stood out.

So again, i'm fine with most of it, even though King Bran's election scene was clearly the low point, and really reaching "Sand Snakes" level of atrociousness (lol the North will remain independent cause we fought a lot!  :doge :doge :doge).

I liked Daenerys' psycho speech to Jon, even though it felt like she stopped taking her meds all of a sudden, but in her Sith-Lady attire she was hot af, so i'm cool with that.

Everything else was kind of "whatever" all around, really nothing that will stick in my memory in a month's time.

first half was good, then it turns into game of thrones family holiday special with guest appearances from all your favourite characters. plucked straight from dr branhattan's self insert head canon.

was nice seeing tobias menzies again though. he's been AWOL since the red wedding which is a shame because he's probably best remaining actor on the show.

For all you nerds who also read the books, how much does the plot differ? And why is GRRM so fucking lazy?

Did you not see the list of a dozen unresolved plot threads that didn't even show up in the tv show? If you wrote that many Shaggy Dog (see what I did there) storylines in your trilogy that is now at least 7 books long, wouldn't you give up as well?

Lot of words about nothing:

Quote
And I’m writing.   Winter is coming, I told you, long ago… and so it is.   THE WINDS OF WINTER is very late, I know, I know, but it will be done.  I won’t say when, I’ve tried that before, only to burn you all and jinx myself… but I will finish it, and then will come A DREAM OF SPRING.

How will it all end? I hear people asking.   The same ending as the show?  Different?

Well… yes.  And no.  And yes.   And no.   And yes.   And no.   And yes.

I am working in a very different medium than David and Dan, never forget.   They had eight hours for this final season.   I expect these last two books of mine will fill 3000 manuscript pages between them before I’m done… and if more pages and chapters and scenes are needed, I’ll add them.   And of course the butterfly effect will be at work as well; those of you who follow this Not A Blog will know that I’ve been talking about that since season one.   There are characters who never made it onto the screen at all, and others who died in the show but still live in the books… so if nothing else, the readers will learn what happened to Jeyne Poole, Lady Stoneheart, Penny and her pig, Skahaz Shavepate, Arianne Martell, Darkstar, Victarion Greyjoy, Ser Garlan the Gallant, Aegon VI, and a myriad of other characters both great and small that viewers of the show never had the chance to meet.   And yes, there will be unicorns… of a sort…

Fucker will die before the series is done. lmao.

Also double lmao at learning about the pilot that was SO FUCKING BAD that it's not the actual first episode.
