Thank you for replying, and also allowing the thread to discuss this matter. I can totally understand how difficult is must have been to moderate something like this and I'm glad the team is taking this situation seriously while admitting the mistakes that have been made. I support the retroactive bans and trust that things will be handled better in the future. This forum is not perfect but the fact that we are able to criticize ourselves and improve is very important.

The news reports of his belongings and the found body from yesterday were grim.This situation reminds me of my own experience with mental health struggles and the horrible system here in the US. The lack of dignity and the trauma of being isolated from everyone for 72 hours in a terrifying ward with neighbors going through psychotic breaks and episodes is a barbaric protocol. I saw my grandmother go through it when she had the bravery to admit her thoughts. There’s not enough respectful protocol and early preventative measures to protect depressed people. It’s too easy for someone to fall through the cracks. I myself would be terrified of ever admitting to any healthcare professional of suicidal ideation developing. The idea of involuntary custody and the traumatic experience of being stuck in terrifying surroundings seemed dreadful.I feel horrible that this is the outcome that resulted. RIP to Etika.
