Had to speak to a German some weeks ago to learn about the link between "Nordic" and "Nazism".
Now drops without batting an eye (or copy/pasting) "Vergangenheitsbewältigung".

Think of 1997 when we couldn't know anything, truly the Internet has been a blessing.

When you refer to this as "virtue signalling", I hope you take a moment to consider that a member of ResetEra opened up in the THQ Nordic thread about how they had been a victim of child pornography, and how the videos of their own sexual abuse were distributed on the website that THQ Nordic promoted.

Ms. Galaxy’s lies take on a life of their own.  :doge

Vergangenheitsbewältigung is a problematic term among historians. :wag

Semanticslly, bewältigung means something is over and done with. Please use the better terms Vergangenheitspolitik, Geschichtspolitik and Erinnerungskultur. :wag

There's a subset of gamers on this forum who actually seem to be very happy that people at large have forgotten about the 8chan thing or didn't care about it in the first place and it's weird as hell.
Validation.

Because they don't give a shit either and begrudge those who do.

The fact there were no consequences whatsoever for the people responsible for the 8chan thing is shameful and emblematic of how shit society at large is. And the gaming community in particular.

No, you dunce, people like seeing people trying to do bad things fail. You trying to foist upon THQ all the crap of 8chan just because of a dumb AMA is a bad thing, so we're happy to see you fail.

As already stated earlier in this thread, this is the only place where people still care and combined with this site's already bad reputation among the general gaming public (i'm actually quite convinced that there are people out there who think Era is to Neogaf what 8chan was to 4chan, as ridicules as that might sound) most people in the company probably believe that Lars official apology was enough.
The people you're talking about are likely people sympathetic to KIA/8chan/alt-right and hates any place willing to call out shitty things that companies or individuals do, so I'd guess that the site doesn't have a bad reputation to reasonable people.

21337:

I’m not really deriding Curb. I still love it and I’m a big fan. But I do have my preferences.

And while I haven’t seen Curb in a few seasons it’s weird to me you think it has no defined structure when to me, it clearly does.
It wasn't any type of personal jab, I just meant that discounting its structural differences would be a derision since it's just equating it as a Seinfeld spin-off ( :nerdglassessmiley x99)

Curb is crazy in that there's multi-episode and season-long plots, there's jokes setup in previous episodes, Larry does more than just revisit the same sets and find himself in the same situations etc.

Larry finds himself always in the same predicaments because of his attitude and behavior, but it's different in Seinfeld.

In Seinfeld things have to happen by the X minute mark so that you have a character interaction scene at the Diner/apartment and then transition off characters, and then finally freeze frame off of a hilarious set-up that's been building up for the whole episode. Then the next episode is pretty much the same (good) formula, just touching different topics with no carry-over. A really great serialized show.

Especially in the last season of Curb, you can see a lot of running jokes and how the events of episodes prior affect how characters act. The last season of Curb has multiple running plotlines, there's callbacks, tons of non-safe absurdist humor, and more that couldn't just be thrust into the Seinfeld humor... though you could definitely grab Larry's observational humor onto George, it doesn't play into the pace of a full episode/show. Curb has a lot of freedoms, and that type of freedom brings a different perspective and just plainly appeals differently.

tl;dr: lmao 213372bu really wrote 2000 words on this shit :neogaf

I just think you’re discounting the plots in Seinfeld. Remember s4 with the pilot? There was a season wide story about the CEO, Jerry and George’s show, and the story ended with a nice bookend as he joins Greenpeace and dies at sea. Then there’s George’s thing with Susan with last entire seasons. Also that serialization in Curb comes much, much, much later in its run.

I just think describing Seinfeld as just recycling the same sets and locations and plots as highly reductive.

Threads like this are a constant reminder of the hate seething just beneath the surface of gamer culture, even here we are not free from all the dog whistles and bad faith comments. Nobody should be giving THQN a pass for what they did.

Buuut... THQ won an award from voting by the public. By definition its a celebration of the company. The seething hate... wouldn't that be a subculture that never lets go of any offense, any grudge, obsesses towards its target trying to indict it towards anyone coming into contact with it and attributing it with all the worst qualities it can muster.

They can't even handle a thread about Nordic winning best game company at Gamescom without pages turning into graveyards.

All because Nordic had an AMA on 8chan. 8chan wasn't a very good place but if they really want to get up in arms about the child porn, someone deciding to say fuck it, account suicide via mentioning the ERA Discords discussing CP and the woman who was harassed by ERA members for exposing it, that would be great.
