Has anyone else been hearing “distinguished mentally-challenged fellowed” used an insult a lot lately? Maybe it’s because of 90’s trends coming back, but I’ve heard it three times this week, including in a porno scene.

Speaking of that, is "big cheeseburger fuck stick," making a come back as well?

I know the term "punching down" already exists, but do we have a phrase for when you punch down while simultaneously punching up? Like when Colbert repeatedly beat his audience over the head with "Putin and Trump are gay, isn't it funny how gay they are?"

All these shitty stabs at powerful people do is tell marginalized folks that they're still marginalized, even by the people who claim to offer solidarity.

I was genuinely trying to think of a literal "punching up, but then punching down" martial arts move that could be used in a metaphorical sense to refer to what Harris, Colbert, and many other people do. This gif, silly as it is, really does capture the mindset I'm trying to fit myself in.

Yeah but they practically did the same thing with Venom. Marketing was very ambiguous about whether it had anything to do with Spider-Man and by extension the MCU.
I noticed that, especially in that Feige and Pascal interview. It always seemed like Disney was keeping them at arm's length. Now that it's getting out that Feige was possibly consulted on Venom, Spider-Verse, or both and was uncredited. I'm not sure what to make of this whole thing.

Sony comes off as the crazy ex who got out of a somewhat controlling relationship but still uses that famous ex's name for clout and to get into high profile clubs.

:mindblown what the fuck is up with resetera posters acting like SNK was some sort of super unknown entity back in the days.

Nintendo-GAF, Shuri. Nintendo-GAF.

Oops, meant to edit this in. Well, whatever.
I think it's more of an age thing honestly.  I'm a huge Nintendo fan, but I also played and owned other consoles. I was also a huge arcade fan, so SNK got love from me--Metal Slug series, SamSho 1/2 especially, Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Baseball Stars, Art of Fighting, KOF, etc.  I also started gaming when arcades had some presence, although dying overall in the US.

Us arcade heads are a dying breed lol.

The current average active ERA poster started gaming in the PSOne/N64 generation when arcades were basically dead in the US.

Nintendo hyperbole at ERA is just a continuation of the Sony hyperbole in GAF's heyday in another form. Both peaking due to commercial and critical success--PS2 with GAF and Switch with ERA.

PS3 sycophancy at GAF, especially in the early days of the system, was kinda fun to make fun of lol. You had the generals of the SDF, Wollan and Kittowny ushering every new Sony 1st party exclusive as some revolutionary shit. Remember the hype for LAIR? LOL

Yet another one that apparently doesn't know it was Disney's greedy ass that caused this to happen.

ERA won't know what to do when the next Holland Spidey movie also reviews well and makes as much as the previous one.

Actually they'll just stay quiet. Remember the pitchforks being primed and ready to go for Venom and then it made a fuck ton of money and the usual MAHVEL BABY crowd was nowhere to be found.  :lol

This is something that's bothered me for a while but with the recent Pokemon trailer it's got me thinking about it again. I'm not a big Pokemon fan but I have a little history with it, started with Red and Blue on the GBC, then I tried out Emerald on the GBA, took a long break and finally went back to a Pokemon game in 2018 with Heartgold. As I aged I also changed and one of the things that changed with me is the gender of the characters that I play in games. I used to go with what I am (male) but more recently I almost always play female if I get the chance, but the issue with Pokemon and specifically Heartgold is that the introduction is so damn personal it feels like it's asking me. Not game me but real-life me, so I feel like I have literally have to say I'm male. I think it's just the way they set it up, Professor Oak introduces himself and explains a little about the world of Pokemon and then he says "now why don't you tell me a little bit about yourself?" "are you a boy? or are you a girl?"to me this absolutely just makes me feel like he isn't asking my character but he is asking me, the player who I am. So when I started Heartgold I wanted to play as a girl like usual but because of the way he asked me I ended up playing as a guy, even though I didn't want to. I seem to remember something similar happening with Pokemon Black as I think that's one of the main reasons why I didn't want to play that one.

Maybe I'm just being a bit finicky here but this bothers me to a pretty large degree, these are games that you spend hours in and feeling like I can't play the gender I want to play just isn't nice. Pokemon Sword and Shield look good and I loved the character customization that they showed off recently but I'm worried that if I end up getting the game I'll be forced to play as a male again because of the way the game asks me what gender I am, I really hope that isn't the case but I just get the feeling it will.

If you ask me, the way to get past this is by giving Pokemon a character creator so instead of it being phrased as a question it's just a selection to make like most other games. Maybe I shouldn't let it bother me but it just feels weird if I say anything other than me being a guy,. I'm not sure why but it makes me feel off if I say anything else.
https://www.resetera.com/threads/pokemon-game-introductions-are-too-personal-and-i-feel-like-they-force-you-to-be-honest-as-to-what-gender-you-are.139640/post-24309637

A skin tone slider would be the best option, I'm South Asian so I default to the 'tan' option but my skin looks more like Little Mac's in my avatar.

I believe these colors are all a way to make skin tones but leaving them generic enough for you to customize later... i’m white and brazilian so the “yellow asian” skin tone always seemed to me closer to my skin tone than the “fair” white colors(i’m white but not that pinkysh)... i can see indians and some light skinned black kids going for brown despite these too ethnicities being very different, pokemon sorta gives you the molds and you fill in the gaps at least when you care more about appearances rather than bloodlines :/

Bloodlines

I don't know if this is a real issue that I should understand or just Era nonsense.  I'll go with nonsense since 99.5% of what they talk about is useless in the real world and it's easier to do.

Kotaku article in 5 . . . 4 . .

I wonder if the 9 year olds that this game was designed for are thinking to themselves, "Only 8 shades of skin tone?  I'm just so tired, fam."

Sent with no text :( I said that the 9 year olds are already on so many meds they don't give a shit about anything anymore.

3 years and they couldnt add more skin tone variance.

The skin color options are so awful, wow.

The kids are already on so many drugs to keep them in check they feel nothing.

Quote
They can add hundreds of different clothings items but having more skin tones is too hard

Was it a Silent Hill, MGS, or a Fallout game that asked you personality questions to determine your traits or how the game would play?
sigh
