that dude was dog whistling his pro-rape and transphobic views: https://www.resetera.com/threads/lgbt-representation-in-gaming-should-it-be-proportional-or-equal.104763/post-18789756

Quote
It should be whatever the developers want. They shouldn't be forced to alter their narrative to fit a gender percentage.
Quote
No, I have not asked myself because they're not my stories. It's the writer's stories so ask them. I treat people who write for games the same as people who write books. Their story. Their rules.
Quote
Respecting the author's vision is not a dog whistle. When I read a book and I don't like it. You know what I do? I stop reading it. The same with video games. I don't demand for it to change. I just stop playing it. Why? Because it's not for me but you know what is worst than a video game that you hate? A video game that a developer is forced to make.

If you want to call me a dog-whistle, mealthy-mouthed, weasel, or whatever new label you want to throw at me, we're just going to have to agree to disagree because I'm going to continue supporting the creator of art (books, video games, movies, etc) to have as much freedom as possible to do whatever they want with no pressure. The more art is like that, the better.
Quote
Yes. I even said that if I don't like a video game, I just stop playing it. I don't want to force the developer to do anything. I just ignore them. That's what's beautiful about being an individual. What's not beautiful is forcing artists to lose their individuality because you or even most people disagree with it. It all worked itself out for Rape Day since it was pulled from Steam so I fail to see how that helps your argument that game developers should be forced to alter their story to fit gender percentages or anything similar.

The more representation game developers have, the better off they will always be. Closing down that representation is a horrible idea.
Quote
Yes I do. I also respect how society pushed it away. That's how freedom of expression works. And I'm going to stop responding to you if you're going to ignore literally 100% of my posts that you respond too to ask me another question in a lame attempt to bait me.

Freedom of expression is a good thing and always will be.

User Banned (Duration Pending): Dismissing LGBT identity and value concerns in favor of concerns of "creative expression"

The LGBT community has only been getting more and more representation in media for more than a decade now and it's growing fast. And you know how that started? Freedom of expression.

It's a beautiful thing :)

Keep it rolling and I'm happy that your ideal soceity of less freedom of expression will never come true because it's ridiculous.

Peace.

This forum and frankly, the way it's moderated, enables it.

Quote
Every time. People get banned for saying "wait and hear his side" or get accused of victim blaming. It's quite predictable.

Quote
Yeah, this forum really needs to work on that. I can see where they're coming from but some of the posts were legit people just being more level headed, reserving judgement until more evidence was clear.

I hope you don't think Era is how the social landscape actually is. Era is pretty unique for lack of better words.

100% agreed with this.

I find it remarkable at times, it'll be the forums demise one day, if not already.

no, this place is pretty far off from the "social landscape," even when held next to the bluest cities. i am sure it was that way to begin with, but it doesn't help that the moderation here pretty much cleanses wrongthink.

SA has been "dead" since like 2007. Hasn't the forums been utter shit for a while? I really can't recall the main-site being "popular" post-2005. So while it's "sad" that an early internet relic is going: I can't say I'm going to particularly mourn lowtax or the goons.

Quote
It's essentially peacocking, isn't it? I'm not trying to knock it necessarily, but I do find it strangely fascinating from a anthropological perspective.
Everything looks and feels so exaggerated and romanticized within these "hyper reality" bubbles. It's even evident in how these humans tend to dress themselves eccentrically, or even how many conventionally attractive humans are within radius of each other.
All still taking place within a physical habitat. It's also more notable among the female attendees compared to the males, which is also interesting.

It's also peculiar how much technologies have affected humans behaviors within those particular classes in society, when considering how much we've evolved from our ancestors, both physically and socially. Or even alongside other human species, which nature was less forgiving of.
We've adapted to have something called the Oscars, which is meant to be this culmination of a host of human ideals and human fictions. And it's also this ceremonial event where a lot of humans consciously dress more beautifully and more eccentrically, than they would otherwise outside these occasions. What led to this?

No, I said context is king. In the context of Rich's joke, I don't see the malice needed to take an otherwise racist stereotype joke all the way home into the "I hate Asians" category . And the "they talk like that..." is problematic, absolutely, but I also see the look he gives the camera before he does an impression of "my drunk racist uncle" with his body language before he says it. Dude is fucking joking. I mean, it's super obvious. Does Rich need some time outside of his middle American bubble to know that "ching chong" whatever is no beuno, probably. You could take that hypothetical $42 and easily buy more than enough food for a week in a grocery store and eat pretty good with fresh meat/fish/chicken, vegetables, pasta/rice, eggs, bread, cheese, etc.  But that would involve actually getting out of the house and shopping, and then taking some time and cooking/preparing meals.  If some of these people didn't have access to a phone or DineDash to get delivery, they would starve to death,  Which might not be a bad thing in the end.

I just think that it's a very bizarre system. How food that is bad for you is so cheap and accessible, yet the healthier options are out of reach for some. No wonder poverty and obesity go hand in hand so much. And i know someone will say im defending people who have no self control, and i get that..although its not that simple, but this is definitely an issue.

Father Oscar the Grouch forgive me, but Aeana is a fucking turbo cunt and I cant imagine why people willingly interact with her, even if it is to troll.

There is validity to the idea of "food deserts" - low income neighborhoods often do not have full grocery stores, but will have multiple convenience stores and fast food places, and the residents may not have a car or reliable public transportation to get to a real store.  I've lived in situations like that, and there were definitely times where I walked a couple of blocks to McDonalds versus having a half hour bus ride each way to a grocery store.

But of course REEE is acting like every grocery store is priced like a Whole Foods, and even there you can find items that are reasonably priced.  Most of them again are too lazy/stupid to figure this out so that's why they're buying $15 salads and blaming it on a "system".

Many poor people are poor because of circumstances beyond their control. Lack of education, lack of skills, lack of opportunity. However, there are a proportion of poor people who are poor simply because they are lazy and make poor choices.

The majority of people on ERA who claim poor either aren't poor or just make such bad choices that they have no other option than to be perennially living hand to mouth.
