Do you even know what a dedicated server is?
Yeah bro, and not having them didn't ruin the game and probably saved them a shitload of money too.
Not supporting end-user dedicated servers does not to save them any money, it actually costs them more money through server and system administrator costs. They still have to make dedicated server software, they just never release it to the public. The purpose of this is matchmaking and primarily ensuring that users cannot bypass DLC/microtransactions requirements. By withholding dedicated server software from their customers they ensure that they can maintain total control over the license they sell you, which is revocable at any time, for any reason.
Traditionally game companies could not steal games from you because you could always throw up a dedicated server in LAN mode to bypass their centralized servers completely. This is obviously problematic because it gives the consumer too much control to play the game whenever they want, however they want.
Anyone who defends the removal of dedicated servers is likely both ignorant and a corporate shill.
