Well yes, as many people have noted in this thread, context exists. Note that dude is trying to flash the gesture at camera, isn't showing his face, is doing it behind a black reporter, etc. There's a reason that the argument isn't "hey, dude thinks things are just going OK out there, so he's talking about how he's feeling OK". This is what I asked Audioboxer who has not been forthcoming with a response, what is in this scenario the reasonable explanation? A white dude purposefully tried to get it on camera while a black dude was talking. What was he saying "okay" to? Where is the benefit of reasonable doubt coming from exactly?

My 2 cents after reading through the various reactions:In my opinion the kneejerk reaction to criticism of violence in videogames is characteristic of gamers collective response to criticism of videogames in general. It's like it stems from a desire to protect the hobby, not unlike what happens with other subcultures. Skateboarding culture is a good example of this.I'm totally guilty of this as well. The Sekiro threads about game difficulty were what got me riled up but I digress.That same tendency to have a kneejerk reaction to any criticism is, in my opinion, what leads to some of the darker, more dispicable things we've seen develop aroind gaming in recent history. The fact tjat there are people having actual, verifiable, medically diagnosable reactions to the circumstances in which they work, forced or not, should give us pause.
I mean, the article addresses this? They all knew that they were working on a violent game, which made it harder for them to talk about how badly it was affecting them. And, besides how silly the comparison is of a digital artist and a doctor, doctors have mental health help available to them, as do everyone working in the healthcare industry. I don't know how much of that is available in the video game industry but I'm going to guess it's not a lot.
