The only value in BTC is the value people put into it. So if you make any amount of money then that means other people are losing at least that much value. It's a Ponzi scheme.

If you invest in a company, the hope is that the company can generate goods and services which create value and return profit in the form of dividends. But there are no dividends with BTC. No created value. The only value comes from suckers inflating it. And a lot of people have lost a lot of money so far.

Honestly, as someone who codes for a living, i'm really not sure it's a good idea to let go of printed currencies in favor of ubiquitous digital currencies.
lol at this dude thinking they actually print all currency these days instead of changing database numbers for most of it

wow sabrina is really an expert on this
Quote from: sabrina
I don't like systems that disenfranchise the uneducated and hopeful. I especially don't like it when those systems are sold to the uneducated as the "smart" option. Especially not when it's also a great tax on the environment. Everything about BTC is awful.

Stocks and foreign exchange work on the hope that the people you're investing in are creating value. But you're not investing in anyone when you buy into BTC. You're investing into the system itself. BTC cannot create any value besides pure speculation, because it will never be usable as a stable currency. Almost every single legitimate storefront that tried BTC has backed out of doing so.

Y'all are going to a casino, buying a bunch of chips, playing your hand at one of the tables, and thinking that value is created just because you personally came out ahead with the system you have. Uh, newsflash: no. That money came from everyone else who bought in and brought their chips to the table and is walking away with less.
Quote from: sabrina
And yet unless you're a programmer you're going to be using a third party app anyway: an online exchange, or a BitCoin exchange client.

Like look. Here's an example of a website set up for the purpose of certain illegal activity (which I am in no way endorsing. Do not do this! This is for demonstrative purposes, and I did not complete the transaction). You are the first party. The website is the second party. The website is asking you to send BTC to an address of theirs, but to do so you either need your own BTC trading application or you need a third party one, because this website does not provide payment processing.

So it's worse than existing digital currency because not only is it still third party, but it's completely unregulated. And people have lost their wallets all the time, for a lot of different reasons.
i hope she's okay

Quote
Kao is a young kangaroo living with his family in the jungle when they are one day captured by a ruthless hunter and his goons. It's up to Kao to drive the invaders from his home and save his family.

The game is divided into 5 sections "worlds" each with a distinctive theme (winter, space, tropic etc.) however, the sequence of levels often makes little to no sense, for example, a battle with some kind of greek god (Zeus, probably) transitions into a level in outer space.

Benji, you didn't even pull the worst character design from that re-done Chrono Trigger thread:

--->

Nose piercing, partially dyed hair, and the big bulky muscles coddled princesses are known to develop from all the physical labor they have to endure.

Don't mind that the splotchy dyed hair completely undermines the plot point of her being mistaken for her ancestor.

We had a meal together a few months ago and she kept dropping things into conversation... like I would talk about an artist I like who happens to have strong feminist leaning and she would say something like "oh, you like her? Okay, you've scored some points", like I was being examined as a cis guy that MIGHT be some kind of ally. I had only informed my girlfriend at the time of my identity and had asked her to not say anything for the time being, so I didn't correct this when it happened. It was just difficult to deal with someone so invested in championing gender identity positivity making so many assumptions.

Non-binary peoples have existed forever. This isn't some fad or craze dreamt up to make ourselves feel special. As above, this is simply language catching up with the notion that people exist whose traits and personalities cannot be so neatly categorized.

So because I like Belinda Carlisle and the colour pink, i'm non-binary?

Nah, fuck that.

A friend of my girlfriend for example, is quite anti-cis male atm due to a lot of trauma from her youth, and she's going into her gender identity as a gender queer person and dealing with the usual toxic elements on and offline.

As a “working class” family we are *almost* priced out...our “budget” trip this year:

8 day tickets for 5(2 adults 3 kids) - $2800
Our share of the house we rented with extended fam- $700
Travel expenses (18 hour drive) -$500
Food, snack, souvenir, misc budget for 5 -$1200

Sure you can pack sandwiches or whatever and save on the last one, but food and snacks are a big part of the Disney world experience.

I mean, we love it and will continue to go, but those ticket increases hit HARD when your youngest kids age up to the point where they require tickets. It’s really the only major vacation we’ve ever done as a family, so I couldn’t tell you how it compares to other destinations.

Edit: another thing, the old advice to stay off property isn’t the best anymore(unless you can rent a house with a group.). Decent off property hotels aren’t much cheaper than Disney’s cheapest on-site hotels, and require you to rent a car and pay for parking every day at the park. Not to mention many of those hotels hide resort fees and similar nonsense in the fine print, which Disney hotels don’t do.

That has to be a pretty loose definition of working class.

You missed the part where they’ve never vacationed anywhere but Disney  :snob
