It literally does not matter if the woman in the ad is cis with a prosthetic or not. It’s still relying on trans imagery. It’s still pairing a picture of a woman with a penis with a portmanteau of “chromosome” and “manticore”.
It literally does matter though, that’s just it. A woman with a prosthetic penis isn’t ‘trans imagery’ unless you have no understanding of the difference between sex and gender. She might well be transsexual, but I would think it’s likeliest that she’s neither transgender nor transsexual, and is in fact a cisgender woman with an augmented cock.
I noticed that although the artist mentioned the LGBT community, she never referred to the person as being trans.
I don’t know why it’s vexing me so much, but I can’t help but feel like people are fighting battles that won’t help them win wars.
I actually don't mind if someone is a "sex and gender are different things" person or if they're a "sex and gender are the same thing" person, since we're just talking definitions. All I ask is that they be consistent, instead of just constantly flipping from one definition to another to win an argument.
Referring strictly to Reset, they’re a bunch of hypocritical fucks. I’m not at all surprised that they’ll simply choose whichever politics suit them in the moment. I’ve seen other trans voices that I actually respect upset by this CDPR stuff though, and although I don’t want to argue with them, I’m confused and disappointed. Getting strident about shit that you’re not consistent with is a terrible idea.
