The manga itself isn't even THAT problematic compared to a lot of manga, it's just a slice of life romantic comedy between college students, but it's incredibly inappropriate to use as a Red Cross promotion. It's like using an American college sex comedy movie like Zoolander to promote the Red Cross. Tone deaf.

that said, the "american college sex comedy" was one of my favorite genres when i was in my teens.

Now i feel sad for the poor millennials who thinks peak movie entertainment is asexual superheros blowing shit up to save the world.  :(

Sounds like some here need a simpler equivalent to the New Yorker, like the Floridian or something. Less syllables to mouth to yourself while reading, more pictures to color, the perfect publication for state school graduates.

It’s fewer :rage

Sounds like someone went to Brown :snob

Lefty YouTubers being attacked by the very fans they helped cultivate into this unyielding, hyperbolic mob on social media that tries to destroy you professionally and isolate you from your friends and family was always going to happen eventually. That they are now suffering from the same mob-like tactics they gladly approved of for years is delicious karma.

MCU fans are so fragile.
actual arthouse films like Inception, and teen college sex comedys like zoolander
Welp, I guess people who find Scorce's statements unfair and a tad gatekeep-y are Nazis now, pack it in boys, the Anti-MCU crowd has reached their biggest low yet.

Sad to see that movie discourse on Era has reached this sort of level, but I guess some people just gotta feel good about their superior Cinema/Kino no matter the cost.

Now that's some grade a reaching. No one in this thread has said MCU films are high art, or even want them to be considered as such. That's ridiculous. Not to mention that there's little to no link to the MAGA crap.

I could be saying the people who discount MCU films as cinema are like the Gamergaters saying people who play cellphone games aren't gamers. Still find the meme funny, or accurate?

Except that several people have called how shitty that fucking "joke" and comparison is. Like I said, I could be comparing Scorcese Stans to Gamergaters telling people that they're not real gamers (TM) because they play cellphone games. Would be funny to see how long that would go without me getting banned over it.

Comparing people to Nazis over your bullshit Film Elitism isn't a fucking joke. (Since when has Era adapted the "It's just a prank, brah!" mindset anyway? This is toxic as fuck.) And who's even mentioning racism? Speaking as someone who adores Scorcese's output, Scorcese fanboys on this forum are looking incredibly bad.

Don't tell me how I'm supposed to feel while you're discounting a shitty ass comparison as "It's just a joke".

Your attempts at gish-gallopping are tiring. There's a meme comparing MCU Stans to the Alt-Right and you, for literally no reason, bring up Racism. Are you one of those "tHe AlT-RiGhT aRe'Nt NaZiS" folks?

Do not tell me how to feel. You're the one defending a Nazi comparison as "It's just a joke". You've no authority on if I did, or did not get it, simply because you agree with the meme and find it funny. So miss me with your shitty ass smokescreens trying to talk a toxic meme into something harmless.

 ???
There's no MCU fanbase on ERA, who are you even talking to ?

Is kind of shitty that Lindsay Ellis admits that maybe  there is going to be a point were she doesn’t support Contrapoints publicly but she is going to be friends with her. :doge

I mean, I get it, this is Real Life but people, specially people that sell themselves as activists for a better future, tend to not admit that this is all a brand and e-fame celebrity status is more important than “keeping it real”.

isn't she bemoaning that there can be no truth?  it's how others perceive them, not their own view, they want to be able to speak their truth but leftie youtube fans see them as a brand and oh no my brand has vaguely hinted at non-woke things, that's inherently harmful because they have such a long reach

Because she is getting stuff outside of YouTube, being perfectly fair.

But she just admitted  that she is willing to cut Contrapoints in a public way (but not in a personal one) because brand is more important than ideals. She is willing to indirectly let others affect her friend publicly but she is totally friends with her. She is willing in play the brand game to the point of being “professional” about it but the whole point of leftist you tube is not limiting yourself in societal norms that maintains the status quo.

She plays and promotes a ideological movement that encourages public shaming, but now she said a that all is BS but keep watching her YT channel.

But woke personalities are guilty of encouraging this, Ellis more or less confirmed she is aware of what her job demands and she is happy to oblige to an extent.

just the other day era educated me that being bi now means that you're attracted to two kinds of genders: 1: your own gender, and 2: every gender which is not your own

therefore a non binary person rejects both their own gender and every other gender which is honestly kind of problematic

The way I see it

1- A lot of people would rather have the worst president as long as its not a women.

2- A lot of people secretly racist and they thought he could deliver the wall and immigration restrictions just fine.

Instead he literally ****ed the US in the *** for his own gain like quite literally.

I know I'm kinda late for this kind of threads ,but jeez he is like one of the worst president I could think of and huge down grade from Obama.

I'm just surprised at this time and age half of the US population get fooled by someone like him that's all.

Is there anything I need to know going in?

I know this is probably coming off as a bit naive but I just want to have some fun and mingle with the group.

Would it be offensive if I dressed up?

Is there anything I need to know going in?

I know this is probably coming off as a bit naive but I just want to have some fun and mingle with the group.

Would it be offensive if I dressed up?
what

Someone change that congrats on the sex gif to congrats on the aids

I literally, fundamentally, do not understand this weird ass defense of Tulsi Fucking Gabbard. It makes ZERO sense. Other than it boils down to what it often does---Bernie did something, so we have to work backwards as to why it was either okay or really someone else's fault.

Tulsi is bad. She has bad politics. She is a bad person. She's a homophobe. She's Islamophobic. She's in a freaking Cult. There is no need whatsoever to justify any part of her!

Good lord.

oh Tulsi thread lol
Quote
God imagine if Bernie wins the nomination and endorses Tulsi lol.
Quote
I'd like to thank Bernie for standing up for Tulsi, because it resets my timer on having justification to Bitch Eating Crackers him.

She's a Russian asset, Assad puppet, and rampant homophobe setting herself up for a career in conservative conspiracy media. That crap has no place in a dem primary, and anyone defending this shit is total garbage.
Quote
Tulsi is a useful idiot.

Bernie was kind of one too last go around.

So it makes sense he supports Tulsi.
Quote
Best case scenario Tulsi is a republican operative, there is literally a zero percent chance of her being a democrat.
Quote
But anyway it doesn't surprise me that Bernie would defend this homophobic piece of garbage. I wish he would have actually spoken up earlier when her shitty views were actually exposed, but since she supported him before he obviously wouldn't do that. Its funny that the same people that call out Hillary for being wishy washy on transphobia wont call out someone like Bernie for defending a virulent homophobe
Quote
A big reason why I've never supported Bernie after 2016 is that I just don't trust him when it comes to Russia. And he still hasn't given me satisfactory atonement for Tad Devine, Manafort's old pal and partner in Ukraine.

The Are Troops stuff is just some nonsense tribal nationalistic bullshit that appeals mostly to the deplorables and fake ass moderates. So I'm a bit disappointed to see that route being taken here in plenty by the running Dems.

Gabbard is also just pure putrid trash and if there's good in this dying world then she'll lose her seat.

And yes, she's a Russian asset, if not willingly. Her schtick goes way beyond being against American imperialism, which is funny with the whole nationalist Are Troops hilarity.
Quote from: Mercury Fred
Yup. Writing off people’s concerns about the coordinated attacks as “Russia crazed” is basically gaslighting at this point.
Quote
I mean, he was one of the only senators who voted no on russian sanctions. The other was Rand Paul who has some questionable ties to Russia.
Quote
How is this even real?? From Dem candidates no less? Marianne, Yang, Pete, Beto, and now Sanders.

We have a known foreign asset as Commander-In-Chief but it’s unfathomable for those who serve in his military? Who are they fooling?
Quote from: Mercury Fred
Disgusting.

Any doubts I had that Sanders was anything but pure garbage are gone now.
Quote
bernie is the real Russian asset
Quote
LMAO!!!!!

Welp, there it goes any chance of attracting the Clinton voters. The deep stupidity of the Sanders' campaign is astonishing. They really live in a dumb ass bubble.

Tulsi is fucking toxic. Stop being so goddamn stupid Bernie.
Quote
so, uh, all these candidates are sort of giving Gabbard their support, right?

Does that mean some of their voters would now vote for her if she dropped out and ran for a third party if, say, their preferred candidate didn't win?
Quote from: Mercury Fred
It's helpful in revealing how awful he truly is. And he did people willing to give him the benefit of the doubt (again) a favor and a very easy out.
Quote
Bernie has some unanswered questions as well. I don’t bring it up in this forum because I don’t want to be shouted at by his supporters. He has some questionable votes.
Quote
Kind of makes me think Hilary said it to bait Bernie into defending. I don't think jumping into this helps him at all. It could hurt him if Tulsi is actually under investigation.

Hilary was right about Trump so there is a chance she knows something.
Quote
If Tulsi was an asset... And she supported Bernie in 2016... What would that mean for him?

Quote
talking about Tulsi reminds me of how i feel when I talk about Contrapoints, i just want it to end

I'm not really sure how being nonbinary is the same as being gay. You realize you are gay because you experience, well, gay shit - homosexual attraction/romance.

You can't experience nonbinary shit, because nonbinary shit doesn't...really...exist. what is a nonbinary experience? I feel like i could get away with calling myself nonbinary because i'm a feminist and i never did masculine shit like play sports. That's rebelling against the binary, yeah?

Just keep in mind the connotations that specific language has in different contexts. Talking about someone in a period before they figured out their identity, for example, "they did not identify as non-binary" puts focus on the way they perceive themself and avoids suggesting that their gender would change, as if it was a choice, the way a phrase like "they were not non-binary" does. On the other hand, when referring to someone in the present, "they identify as non-binary", while not technically wrong, can sound like you're distancing yourself from a statement that you're presenting as if you don't necessarily agree. "They are non-binary", in this case, serves to more explicitly affirm their identity by stating it as fact and reinforces that it's not open to dispute.

I firmly believe the election was hacked.
I mean, it doesn't really matter if it was as Gerrymandering has always been a wide spread problem with voting.

Who needs hacking when Georgia stays red even though a larger percentage of minorities vote year over year and their votes are just...literally tossed out.
How can you defeat an enemy powerful enough to gerrymander an entire state's borders two centuries in advance?

Yeah, so I messaged my boss and apparently we got the okay to dress up. The person leading the group is Al CaBone. I think we're all good here.

I just got a whatsapp message that says go ahead and dress up and that "Al wants a big scare factor". IDK, I'll see what I can do I guess.

5 years later, GamerGate has evolved. Now, no longer restricted to the rightwing, GG has, like a virus, adapted itself to be palatable for the left. How can GamerGate ever end if it can adapt and change so readily?
