i've always swerved w.a.s.p because, i mean it's w.a.s.p, but i've been listening to the crimson idol for my sins and it's truly is a campy masterpiece. guitar on it is a proper buzzsaw.
i don't know what happened to guitarists who could shred but still kept it raw, loose and full of swagger. the 80s was loaded with them with rhoads, EVH, viv campbell, nuno bettencourt, george lynch, slash and whoever else, but since then while you've got some absolutely unreal technical guitarists, but they all seem to be a bit on the wrong side of the virgin/chad spectrum as far as personality in their playing goes.
