It’s also hilarious how every tool can reacts like Potato. Like they’re super defensive even if you say you’re going to give them an earnest shot. Are Tool fans the Shenmue fans of rock? :dead

well not really, but the majority of music posted in here isnt heavy metal. I would say prog rock/ prog metal

Tool are pretty decent. Not a huge fan, but seeing them live was fucking amazing. Even on the big stage at a festival they had insane sound.

About what? The genres? Most of the stuff posted in here is pretty far from the heavy metal genre, such as iron maiden or black sabbath.

You could make an argument for all metal genres coming from heavy metal, but we dont count all rock music under the genre of blues either.

But don't tell the Tool fans that, those guys are crazy...

P.S. New Darkthrone record Old Star is great. 38 solid minutes that go by like it's nothing.

The lead singer here has had his controversies that have a little bit more gravitas than "I'm going for shock value tee hee". Lots of strange borderline if not blatant edgelord neo-nazi shit. Then there was the child pornography charge a decade ago. It was dropped and I don't know the details about what exactly it could have been, but it leaves you feeling  :-\ . Dude also comes off like a tool in interviews. Nonetheless, very strong track. Seen them live a few times and they rip.

Burp. BUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRP

Oh. This band man. Agalloch had it all at one point. The very last album was pretty meh, but some incredible LPs and EPs before the leading man wanted to make the band a full time thing and the rest of the band was like "yo, we didn't get into this for the money." So lead guy goes off to form his own band. One day posts antisemitic things online that make him look like a 4chan kook  :brain. His old bandmates call him out and then his current ones are like "ehh... are you a dipshit? Don't answer that. We're out. Do what you'd like with the music we recorded for a second album already." That music was never released, band folds. Mr. Dumbass just tossed away two bands within like 4 years and also comes out looking like a hateful little high schooler.
Got to see Agalloch 3 times. They were awesome. The other three guys always seemed super cool, while Mr. Anti-semite always took himself really seriously (maybe suffering from Napoleon complex?). I feel bad for the other guys. The lead guitarist either still teaches or taught at some college. Part of the reason the band was not meant to be a full time thing.

EDIT:
I went back into the thread to  the point where it changed into the "heavy metal" thread. I don't think I saw any Godflesh. I did see Jesu which is *muah* :bow , but no Godflesh. Cindi they even fuck around with hip hop beats in the mid 90s. And not in lame ass Limp Bizkit nu-metal way. And not in a dumbass appropriation-like manner either. Cause Justin Broadrick is a beautiful musical mind and not a bigot little shit like some people from the bands I've posted.

I saw Godflesh supporting Napalm Death in a wee club called The Venue. There was only me and my mates, the bar woman and a bouncer. So about 5 of us. To give them their due both bands played their sets, although it was kind of embarrassing. We tried to encourage them but you could tell they were a bit dejected really. Playing to 3 customers and only 1 of them had actually heard any of their stuff. That's got to bruise the ego. Still, we had a drink with them after and had a good laugh about it so it wasn't that bad.

I don't know where you live (and I'm not gonna prod you about that), but if one of the cities is close by, you should go check out this show.

Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, At the Gates all on one bill. It's $40 in my town. Maybe the line up will be different wherever you are at, but you can look in the tour section.

They didnt replace him until much later. I dont know much about dragonforce as I find them incredible boring, but I guess it could be the difference of working on a decent budget vs rushing an album out not having the time to record and mix it well?

Anyway, this is cool and good, talking about one of the best albums of all time

Slowly catching up to modern metal. In October I want to spend a lot of time listening to modern metal and build up to metal that has come out this year as the "best of metal 2019" lists pop up.
