Couple things I noticed in the trailer:

- Neo after he "wakes"/remembers doesn't have all his powers yet, or at least not at full strength -- could be an Act 1 thing, or an overall runtime thing

- It seems like the "new" Zion crew (blue hair lady, fake Morpheus) have the ability to use any large-enough reflective surface as a "doorway," similar to the doors leading to the white hallway in Reloaded (this is also a clear callback to Neo's awakening in the first film, when the mirror goes down his throat while dial-up noises play)

- Yellow code going *up* during the logo transition at the end, possibly symbolizing uploading or "resurrection"

- I have a theory that Neo's consciousness and/or body are alive, but Trinity really is dead and this is just an "echo" or part of some larger scheme for luring Neo back out (you can see green code going up her neck in one shot)

- I think this movie will be about Neo accepting Trinity's death in Revolutions, finally freeing himself of his final earthly attachment, and attaining true enlightenment as he dies (for real) -- hoping he'll be reunited with the real Trinity in death, finally

Also, nothing I've seen so far contradicts The Matrix Online. Doesn't mean the final film won't, but here's hoping they keep it canon. 🤞

I'm more leaning towards Morpheus being a program trying to 'reactivate' Neo and Trinity to fight a new threat.

In the original trilogy the Oracle was a program as well.
I wonder if they will start calling them 'apps' instead of programs.

- I definitely think the Machines are the ones resurrecting Neo, and I think it may be to develop some kind of counter-One code so they can go back to their old ways

- I also think the nu-Zion crew we’ve seen so far might be programs working for the Machine’s ends.

Yeah given the direction The Wachowskis have been in the last decade (Cloud Atlas, Sense8, JA) I think it's gonna be some simulation within a simulation fuckery. Machines kept Neo's body and were probably curious how this human was able to do what he did (broker peace, defeat smith and just give himself to them). I think new morpheous is a machine but I don't think it'll be as clean/clear that he works for them. If its far enough in the future I could see them having some machines actually split and develop their own consciousness/individuality because of what neo did. So we'd get that sort of radical humanism and individuality shit that Cloud Atlas was touching on but Sense8 really leaned into but now we get it from "machines."

I realized last night this could be a situation like Buffy the Vampire Slayer's "Normal Again," where Buffy is pierced with demon venom and wakes up in a mental hospital with her mom and dad still alive (and married), being told Sunnydale and being the Slayer was just a delusion.

At the end of the episode, Buffy chooses Sunnydale (so the series can continue), but in a scene that shouldn't exist, the last thing we fade out on is Buffy catatonic and locked away.

Maybe "Thomas Anderson" in "the real world"/The New Matrix is being told he's just another aging hipster with delusions of being this guy "The One" from that old movie "The Matrix." Take your pills and don't dwell on it, Tom buddy.

But in the film's reality he IS The One from The Matrix.

Never considered that! I guess it depends on how much they want to humanize the Machines, but on second thought, Wachowskis are all about humanization and empathy... Plus, they literally gave the Machines a baby human face in the last one lol.

We do know Hugo was asked back but couldn't make it, unlike Laurence who wasn't asked back. Maybe he was able to find time to get in front of a green screen for an hour or two?

One thing I thought of is that maybe Neo doesn't see himself as Neo while he's bluepilled (Keanu being there for the audience's sake), and that mirror is showing him that form is an illusion and he really DOES look like Neo from that movie The Matrix.

Basically, the Machines are making up a new Matrix to trap Neo in. It looks like 2030s San Francisco. In this world, the movie "The Matrix" exists. The Machines created a fictional movie based on Neo’s actual exploits – it just happens to match up 100% with our world's film The Matrix.

Everything about the old films still happens. The blue world Desert of the Real is still, in-canon, the real reality. But it lets them put clips from the older movies in the new one.

Beyond is a lot of fun too but a little short on story.

Never really cared for Kid's Story, maybe time to revisit it.

Program is my favorite because I love Kawajiri but if I were to do idk a tales from the matrix tv show or something I'd want majority of the stories to be like Beyond and A Detective Story tonally. WB was probably rubbing their grubby mitts together of course, but they've been trying and failing to reboot The Matrix since the late-00s if rumors are anything to go by. The fact they needed Lana to make it happen is enough for me to believe in the artistic integrity of The Matrix Resurrections.

Resurrections looks and sounds like Sense8/Cloud Atlas/Jupiter Ascending Wachowski shit so I'm fairly confident I will enjoy it. All the building flipping stuff Jessica Henwick was doing looks straight out of JA which idk if anyone here mentioned because I know im the only weirdo who loves that movie:

Incredible teaser, the warmer grade being used where Neo's consciousness has been reinserted into the Matrix, my first thoughts were something like an AI or a collection of them are recreating his path to enlightenment and analysing it, Neo's pals want to reunite. The tide of war has been stemmed but a "free" humanity still hangs on the precipice....

It's goofy but fun and charming like Speed Racer (maybe a little less heart). It kinda feels like the most straight forward Wachowski joint if you'll believe that. It's just a classic falling in love outside your class story with some anti-capitalism stuff on top. Ppl love to dog Eddie Redmayne's performance but I don't think it's bad acting...its intentional. He's essentially an immortal goth space vampire, what do the kids say? "He got the assignment."
