Friend who was my usual go to for hanging out since the pandemic broke out tested positive. I haven't seen him since election Tuesday. None of us who were with him have any symptoms either (nor do my roommates who I bump into everyday in the kitchen at least if anything). And he started feeling off early this week. Got his test on Wednesday and the quick immediate result was negative, but with a 15% chance it could be wrong and the actual lab result was POSITIVE, so tough luck for him. Kind of perfect timing though in that here in Chicago we are starting "stay at home" on Monday for a full month.

He feels fine which is good. Just gotta be patient now and go for another test eventually to confirm he no longer has the virus.

North Dakota is the 8th state to record 1,000 deaths per million. It really didn't have to happen as it's the tenth most rural and fourth least dense state (insert joke here).

Note: Maine and Vermont are the most rural states in the US and they are both last and second last in deaths per capita. That they are last in deaths despite having the oldest and third oldest residents speaks to how much of a benefit being rural is. North Dakota is the fourth youngest state (median age nearly ten years below Maine's)!

I've been really impressed with the Baltic states, and also Uruguay. But I also didn't realise how tiny those countries are, population-wise, so maybe that has something to do with it after all. Lithuania is the only one that seems to be having a seasonality-based outbreak.

My 72 year old father had an e-coli infection, went to the hospital to get treated and had to sit in the covid ward for a full day because they couldn't identify the infection at first. All his symptoms were similar to covid, but he was testing negative the whole time. Now I'm worried what he might have been exposed to while in the ward. $:-\$
