I know I'm a stuck-in-his-ways old man, and I don't really follow rock all that much, but it really feels like the genre is in a serious lull. Like, apart from Imagine Dragons and Walk The Moon, I can't recall too many artists from the 10's that became sensations, while rock was dominant from the early 2000s back till like the 60s. Being a white guy in his 30s I've gotten lots of people who think I'm a big classic/alternative rock guy and they're usually pretty confused when I tell them what I listen to

But nowadays, I know very few gen Z people who are into the genre, and even my friends in their late 30s listen to the same rock bands they listened to in the 90s, early 2000s, not really keeping in touch with the new and up-and-coming rock bands.
I liked the indie rock that was experimenting with synths that was slightly popular for a time in the nascent hipster scene of the mid 2000s - LCD Soundsystem, The Killers, The Rapture, but that was the last time I really followed the genre.
