This is a nightmare. This was supposed to be a repudiation of Trump and the GOP. Even if Biden wins, it wasn’t. I’m not sure I’ll ever feel pride for my country ever again.
It’s so fucking condescending for people to just be saying “don’t panic” when, well, the last four years have given people plenty of reason to panic.have some goddamned compassion.
“panicked for nothing” is also particularly condescending for people suffering from anxiety and panic disorders. I wish I could just calm my brain down for your comfort but sadly it doesn’t work that way. Now, if you’re a medical professional and you have some miracle treatment the rest of the world doesn’t know about I’d love to hear it.
I'm trying to will myself back to optimism but I can't physically do it. I feel so exhausted mentally/emotionally, and I feel real despair towards not reclaiming the senate, even in the event of a presidential win (please let that happen). All of my hopes for the future were really pinned on this.

Extremely cool. I said in a text message earlier to a family member that "white people are a blight on humanity" (I'm white btw) and then when to painstaking lengths to clarify that I was speaking purely in demographical terms and that individuals still need to be judged for who they are as people instead of what race they belong to. But now it's blown up into a whole thing and one half of my emotional support system has turned on me for it.Life sure does fucking blow, eh?
I've honestly started having some really dark thoughts today that I haven't had in a long while. And, frankly, I think they're justified.Like I don't think Era really appreciates how damaging it is to not have a single year of your adult life without Brexit and Trump. To not have a single 'rock' to live for because you don't have a single part of adulthood accounted for. To work a dead-end job with a bunch of kids after 3 years of doing a degree you probably shouldn't have done anyway, and to have to be fucking grateful for it because millions are doing so much worse. To have to wonder if one of the two people you actually love in this world might die choking and scared in a crowded hospital bed because of a virus. To not even be able to go watch your pretentious art films in the arthouse cinema because that might kill people and they'll be closing soon anyway. To have your fucking closest family members betray you in the worst ways possible over the most petty fucking bullshit imaginable, and to have the one friend you actually have start sucking off Trump out of nowhere. To have fucking millenials with jobs and apartments and partners posting meaningless goddamn platitudes of 'it'll be OK' as if they are in anywhere near the same position. To not even realise a fundamental part of your identity until your most social period of your life is far behind you because your sexuality (or lack thereof) is more obscure than most fucking memes. Then, on top of all that, to have climate change and complete societal collapse staring you in the face like a tiger waiting to pounce on its prey, making any efforts to actually obtain anything good as pointless as retirement. Oh, and to have people say that it isn't so bad as if we aren't hurtling towards a Blue Ocean Event and the eradication of the Amazon before the fucking Playstation 6 is out.That kind of shit can't be fixed with a "STFU with the doomposting!" or any condescending bullshit like that. I think we may need to acknowledge (even more than liberals usually do) that minorities are NOT a monolith. Their circumstances in life and where they live affect their voting same as everyone else. I think that people who managed to immigrate successfully may have a different perspective than those who are almost permanently locked out, for example. People who got to that nice neighborhood may vote differently than those who can't escape. So on and so forth. And that's before we get to the typical "rich people are just a different class" thing that I think we're all guilty of.This isn't blaming any specific groups, but I think we absolutely NEED to consider where people are in life before just saying "BLACK, HISPANIC, DEMOCRAT," and I think that's something AOC was warning about a month or so ago (with regards to PR being a "Dem" state if it were accepted).
