Because only the first one is particularly objectionable in and of itself.
Finding out what the thought process of someone looking at what's going on and saying "this is fine" is newsworthy.

Anyway I don't know if it's entirely willful ignorance? I think traditional media is hesitant to really integrate the new, democratic media. During these protests it's clear that the best way to stay informed is to go on Twitter, follow people you trust, and see what they're sharing. In that model there's almost no role for traditional information filters. So it's no wonder they'd have trouble adapting. Of course I agree still that a lot of them just don't care at the end of the day

The amount of disinformation being pushed and general lack of fact checking on stuff via twitter is insane.
Yeah traditional media is slower to the punch, but at least there's a semblance of vetting claims and getting independent verifications before running stories.

Literally the only control you have over events is how you respond to them.
Over the last few days I've seen screenshots from World War Z used to portray a post-rioting landscape, anti crash barriers outside a synagogue used to portray evidence of police agents provocateurs, and footage from a canadian hockey riot to show that love can bloom on the battlefield, all unquestioningly retweeted by people that want the story that disinformation supports.

Tom Cotton is a well known nutcase. The fact it was not him who approached them and more the editorial team decision is the thing that changes the opinion of the whole situation.

That's why I'm asking what the full story on this is; if they went to a known nutcase and asked for his hottest take, that's a different thing to the only person they could find being willing to speak out in support being a nutcase.

in this thread alone there have been at least a dozen things posted and then later corrected/retracted

one I posted, saying a tiger was loose (it wasn't)

one someone else posted that I corrected, showing video of an "FBI" agent profiled by police (he wasn't FBI, and the video was from a year ago)

I've been scrolling back through other threads and timelines to look up videos and comments about all these events, and a bunch are simply deleted or banned already, within a week

there is plenty of stuff that is irrefutable which you won't see or learn about anywhere else, but there's also plenty that doesn't show or tell the whole story

Was walking down to pick up food for dinner and this young adult, maybe older teen latino guy goes to me in an intimidating way "wake up, this reality". I simply quipped "already did".

But what the hell man? Guy totally missed the point of these protests and is taking out his own problems on complete bystanders. Sure, it doesn't effect me cause I'm all in.
