For the past 6 months or so these terms have blown up in FFXIV, though I suspect it’s not exclusive to this game and are likely used in pretty much all multiplayer games. But every day I see someone say “pog” or “poggers” or “kekw” or some other thing that for the first time makes me feel like an old man yelling at clouds. Maybe COVID’s got me feeling extra grumpy but it’s, like, not cute or funny at all. I think I prefer uwu to this. This is a twitch thing right? That Pog Champ emote? Isn’t that guy an asshole? I have a 1 year old and still struggle with old life vs new life. Everything now is a struggle just to do simple things. I've even started taking days off when he's in daycare so I can go catch up on movies.

Do you seriously think I was trying to imply that? Are we grasping at straws that badly to demonize people or “catch secret racists” on the forum?

No I do not. I was pointing out that the hate was due to the coronavirus and ignorance about Chinese people spreading it to the point that even people who knew someone’s ethnicity were “conveniently forgetting it” to verbally harass a man and his wife for what the racists believed to be just causes. That by calling them Chinese it proved the root of their hatred and ignorance was in regards to the virus.

For other communities, it would have been considered a thread to raise awareness about racist/xenophobic/anti LGBT attacks. When it is about asians and the exacerbated violence they face since COVID, it is a "shock thread". I guess the mod might not have seen the big picture but it's sad to be honest.

Oh they know full well what they're doing. People in Asian ERA OT raised a lot of these issues like how double standard in moderation is applied when it comes to Asian related topics. And they got banned.

I just had to shoo away this kid half-heartedly mumbling through a sales pitch to subscribe to this random paper for a year so he can hit a target and go to college or something. Other times it's candy. I could hear his friend down the hall doing the same thing with the same pitch-script word-for-word. They couldn't have been more than 15-16. I'm just thinking, how is this even legal?
