tbh potentially yes...if it's released for specific hardware, for purchase, as a full package with menu options, unlockable card designs, variants of play, minigames, music, sound, and the level of polish expected of a video game

It's gatekeeping because it arbitrarily narrows the scope of the medium itself based on nothing but the subjective, exclusionary feelings of those involved, and in general it comes across as immaturity, as if the classification of Wordle as a video game is somehow going to make the medium and the hardcore gaming community look sillier than it already does on its own accord when engaging in video games that aren't mired in this nonsense. This won't impact the game's popularity of course, and I doubt the creator gives a shit after the buyout. But the community and the art form isn't bolstered or made better by this behavior either.

I agree that Wordle should be considered a video game and I think it would be brilliant if it won some awards.

However, you’re making several fairly negative assumptions about people participating in a very benign discussion.

Wordle is quite distinct from what many consider video games to be so it shouldn’t be controversial that people might disagree on the topic. There’s no need to take what is actually quite an interesting discussion to such a negative place.

I've thought for a while it's pretty obvious that a bunch of the staff all seem to hate each other or at least exist within different cliques. Look at how they act once they stop being staff. If they don't up and leave immediately (too many to list) sometimes in hopes people will get upset about it and start drama (BronsonLee for example) then they tend to snipe at staff until they get banned and when they get banned they have the whole account deleted rather than file an appeal (STOP LAUGHING) or merely return when it's up. (Unless they come back later as a staff protected alt.)

Of course there are those that look exactly like us, but have powers, like Saiyans and Kryptonians, basically no difference.
There are those that are one step removed, basically the same, but with different colors or maybe an extra feature or two, like Namekians or Martians from DC.
But even those that are more "outlandish" are pretty humanoid, like Predators or Chozo; basically just humans but with a few more animal-like features.

While there are things like tentacle monsters or Metroids, they rarely exist as species we directly deal with, and are moreso seen as animals in space, not beings we would really interact with beyond fighting them.

Is this primarily due to our limited imagination, or because we can't imagine having (consensual) sex with these things?

You have to remember that Depp is a beloved actor and quite charming, plus as you seem to be aware there’s just a lot of inherent bias and misogyny in online spaces like YouTube and Reddit that color any narratives from there. He’s going to have an advantage in any court of public opinion.

Personally, and I know this is an extremely unpopular opinion as a wave of support seems to be welling for him, the sheer preponderance of of incidents where she claims to have been abused, her physical evidence and witnesses, Depp’s substance abuse, and his history of violence and “bad-boy” behavior make me tend to believe she’s probably not lying about all of it, he probably was abusive to her. Not discounting that she could have been abusive to him as well, of course. Abuse is execrable no matter which party in a relationship is doing it.

The narrative that’s being built of her by Depp’s legal team as some kind of controlling sociopath tormenting an innocent victim is just a bit too pat and movie-like for me. They’ve shown themselves to be experts at controlling the narrative with careful leaks to the press and such, while Amber’s team seems hapless and hopeless at PR. At the bottom line I doubt she’s such a central casting villain, you know? Life is a lot messier.

Well, that’s just how I see it at this point anyway. I’m following the trial with interest to see if any information that comes out that changes my mind.
