Fascists just have a fascination with heroism. They have an obsession with battle and emerging victorious and the power that comes from that display of violence. The entire ideology of the individual within fascism is centered around violence after all which is why they have to have a group to point to as the enemy - one that is both weak and immensely powerful at the same time. I feel like this was portrayed really well in Stolz der Nation - the film within Inglorious Basterds. I would make the same argument regarding American Sniper though that isn't seen as an embrace of fascism generally (I think, but that was my take on it even before being politically literate).

Though the best movie to properly display this end game of fascism is still Starship Troopers, what feels like a movie existing within an existing fascist world itself (maybe it is!). You can, unsurprisingly, see these same chuds taking a completely different take from that movie as well.

Pretty much. You go into any conservative space or conservative media (the media in my country is super conservative) and they talk about how THEY are being oppressed.
