I don't see how that wasn't an assault causing bodily harm. His friend may not have acted intentionally, but he clearly acted recklessly--providing the necessary mens rea. Her being on the court is no defense because she wasn't a threat to him. She needs to press charges.

edit: I only read the OP. He claims in a later post that she stepped underneath him. The fact that he didn't mention that in the OP leads me to suspect he's lying to make him and his friends appear more sympathetic.

Actually, a victim can sue for assault or battery without suffering any actual damage. In fact, she can sue for assault without even getting touched. she would be unable to sue for assault because she probably didn't apprehend bodily contact before it happened. But she can easily sue for battery.

I was, however, talking about criminal charges.
