Maddow respect +100, and I've never been a fan of hers

But after that I might as well jump on the bandwagon. Can you imagine how O'Reilly or Olbermann would react to such trolling? She held her own, gave him more than enough time to repeat his positions, and never lost her cool. In fact, every clip from her show that I've seen has not only shown that she's calm and calculating - but she actually invites people who disagree with her onto the show. Unlike that fucktard Olbermann

Yeah.  I mean I think Olbermann is usually spot on, but I can't watch him with the same respect I have for Maddow.

How can you possibly look at Palin, hear her and think that she's filled with anything but venom and corrosive spit?

Oh, and these people sure know their facts. Like this woman who doesn't much enjoy the fact that Obama thinks of white people a trash.

I know a lot of right wingers and to be honest, even after knowing them for well over a decade, I still don't get how they think.  I have an uncle who is proud that he knows the Grand Wizard of the KKK for Iowa but for some reason, in spite of that pride, he refuses to join the organization.  For real.

Anyway, it doesn't matter what they think.  All that matters is the bitter tears rolling down their fat cheeks on the 5th when the most important position in the US is a black man.

Hank Williams Jr. sings a song about Sarah Palin. Includes heartwarming lyrics like:
"Like a mama bear in Idaho
She’ll protect your family’s condition
If you mess with her cubs
She’s gonna take of the gloves
It’s an American female tradition"

and

"Why do you hunt? God why do you fish?
How can you be so smart and be such a good lookin’ dish?"

As always, the comments to this article are entertaining in their own right.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported recently on disproportionate voting from African-Americans. Georgia doesn't appear to be in play in the presidential election, but it tracks early votes contemporaneously (and online), so it may be a useful bellwether for what's happening elsewhere.

If it is, the news continues to be extremely good for Obama. Early vote totals have now reached 499,582 -- more than 75,000 more than were cast early in all of 2004, according to Matt Carrothers, a spokesman for the Secretary of State
. (The state is also newly encouraging early voting this year, so that's a major factor in the overall increase.)

Most striking: The ratio of African-American voters remains extremely high. 37% of the early votes were cast by black voters, who make up just 29% of the state's electorate.

Great article on Obama's choice of Biden

Quote
On a recent afternoon, Senator Joe Biden, the Democratic candidate for Vice-President, could be found inside a tent, pitched beside a pond in Claude Moore Park, in northern Virginia. His Secret Service agents, who were dispersed among the trees, formed a perimeter around the candidate; his motorcade, consisting of half a dozen cars, idled on a gravel road nearby. A portable toilet had been hauled into the woods and stood outside the tent. This was no wilderness; the park is in the suburb of Sterling, a place rich with potential supporters of Barack Obama. But the image of Biden relaxing at a picnic table in the tent, with his ten-year-old granddaughter Finnegan, who was cheerfully drawing on a napkin, gave the impression of a man not at the center of combat but off on a distant mission.

Obama responds to the ACORN bullshit :drudge

Obama: "We don't need Acorn's help"
Quote
Obama posited Tuesday that the alleged fraud likely was the result of a few bad actors, wouldn’t impact the election and shouldn’t be used by the GOP to try to bar voters from casting ballots on Election Day.

“My understanding in terms of the voter fraud, because having run a voter registration drive, I know how problems arise – this is typically a situation where ACORN probably paid people to get registrations and these folks, not wanting to actually register people because that’s actually hard work, just went into a phone book or made up names and submitted false registrations to get paid,” he said.

“So there’s been fraud perpetrated probably on ACORN if they paid these individuals and they actually didn’t do registrations, but this isn’t a situation where there’s actually people who are going to try to vote, ‘cause these are phony names, and, it’s doubtful Tony Romo is gonna show up in Ohio to vote, so this is another one of these distractions that gets stirred up in the course of a campaign.”

Guys, moral dilemma here.

I'm voting for Obama just cause I don't like McCain's association with Bush and/or the republican party. Does that make me as bad as those inbreeders from Ohio who don't want to vote for Obama cause he's a dirty colored?

In your case, you are voting against someone for his political association--something that is relevant, especially since the association is a valid one: McCain is a continuation of Bush. The Ohio voters, on the other hand, are voting against someone because of his race/background--something that is not relevant.

As a registered independent, I always vote for who has the best plan for the future. Obama has a plan that is basically common sense shit to me. All McCain has a plan for is his next attack ad to confuse people and what little plan he did show only helps big business and the people who don't need it at all.

Still, that 39 is a magic number. Under 40%!

Jesse Jackson still trying to fuck things up

Quote
The most important change would occur in the Middle East, where "decades of putting Israel's interests first" would end.

Jackson believes that, although "people who believe in the development and protection of a Jewish nation who have controlled American policy for decades" remain strong, they'll lose a great deal of their clout when Barack Obama enters the White House.

Tomorrow is the big day.  This is McCain's absolute last chance to have semi-viability.

Even the more conservative projections show over 340 EVs.  Some of the more liberal ones are showing 370.  If McCain fucks this up and needs to do another reboot, Obama may wind up getting 370-390 late next week.  I do hope that this debate will secure Indiana and North Carolina for good, instead of teetering back and forth.

On the eve of the first debate I couldn't help but expect McCain to surprise everyone, basing this off his good performances in past debates. I was wrong

On the eve of the second debate I expected McCain to launch a comeback thanks to the town hall setting. I was wrong

On the eve of the third debate...I think McCain is going to come out blasting and catch Obama off guard

Yea this debate is going to be on the exact issues Obama owns but I'm wary. This is McCain's last chance to pull of a major miracle. Any remaining miracles will be provided by others - be it an Osama kill/capture, a terrorist attack, Bin Laden tape, sex scandal, etc. Unless Obama makes a major gaffe, a McCain debate win wouldn't swing state polls by huge margins nor national numbers. I think the race is going to narrow back to the Obama +3 to +6 area, and perhaps tomorrow will be the beginning of it.

PD, let it go.  McCain has fucked up so badly time and time again, and the only way he'll win the election now is by stealing it.  Tomorrow is just going to be more of the same; the campaign has no new tricks to offer after that, and any suprise news will be handled just as poorly as everything that else that they've done recently.  It's over.

I don't expect anymore bombs to be dropped from McCain.  The Ayers/ACORN/Wright stuff is the best they have.  Otherwise they would have pulled it out by now.  If he waits any longer, it will be called a desperate last grasp for straws.  I don't think he can pull anything off these days.  His best shot is to prevent Obama from absolutely crushing him, which would do a lot of damage to the GOP in general, cutting its chances to recover for 2010.

It all depends on what happens tomorrow.  If the public likes a certain thing McCain does, I expect him to run a mixture of that, talking up his foreign experience, the "scandals" of Obama, and the few things the public thinks he is better than incompetent at.

Palin will continue to undercut him, more conservatives are going to come out and talk about McCain's disastrous run, and more far right wingers will be outspoken, giving the public at large an image that McCain is too far to the right to be taken seriously.  Since McCain will try to underplay them, there will be the image to his supporters that he doesn't like them.  They won't go to Obama but they might just end up staying home, cutting him considerable support in the swing states that have 5% of the GOP vote tied up from the racist right, ensuring that Obama nets all the swing states and brings him to much closer margins for some of the more far right states like Georgia and Mississippi, shaking some of the foundations of assurance the GOP had in the deep south.

Maybe I'm too left optimistic but the 4th could see a huge fracture in the GOP that will cause it to scramble around desperately to find a new identity if Obama were to win a massive victory of over 350 EVs.  Especially if he nabs states like Indiana, Colorado, North Carolina, Florida, and maybe even an electoral vote from Nebraska.  A lot of these could have been considered GOP strengths and now they are gone.

Wow, that Limbaugh rant goes right past traditional conservative disdain and right into conspiracy theory territory.

Interestingly most black supremacist groups don't even like Obama. He's against reparations and has always championed self-betterment within the black community (without the segregationist language of say, the NOI).

Tying Ayers (?) and Wright into this giant conspiracy just makes it even more laughable. Of course we as a community need to come together and stop blaming our failures on other people but that doesn't mean we should simply ignore the fact that institutional racism still exists.

On the eve of the third debate...I think McCain is going to come out blasting and catch Obama off guard

First part maybe.  Second part not.

Obama's campaign hasn't slacked for a year and a half now while McCain keeps sending advance notice of his own tactics via Pony Express.

What is there for McCain to attack on which he hasn't tried already?  Ayers/Wright/Rezko?  The most effective lines of attack have been tried.  When McCain digs for something fresh which Obama won't have planned on the best he can do is crap like the overhead projector.

It's pretty clear that McCain is going to come out with tax and spend, liberalism big government tomorrow night as his primary plank. He'll focus on some bizzare tax cutting, yet austerity minded measure only possible with Holtz-Eakin mathematics.

If he goes Ayers/Rezko/Wright then he's a fool for doing so-he'll get a little more traction with his base in exchange for massive damage with everyone else.

McCain has little else to attack.  The ACORN/Ayers/Wright shit is old hat.  Obama keeps gaining in the polls.  At the same time, McCain now has to keep down his radical supporters who are basically calling for Obama's head.  McCain is trapped: be silent and it looks like you condone it; speak out to stop it and you look like you hate your own supporters.  Oh well.

If McCain brings up that stuff during the debate, Obama can shut it down quickly, cutting most of McCain's strategy right there.  Domestic issues wise, McCain's record is shit and I have no doubt Obama will be bringing it up.  I also have little doubt that McCain will essentially bullshit his way through it, the viewers will catch on, and he will sink his own ship.  Education?  McCain doesn't know shit about it.  Health Care?  McCain has proven himself incompetent on the matter last debate and will be proven again this debate.

McCain will come out and be very aggressive and will blindly trap himself.

On another note, I'll be voting today.
