They haven't used the "ultimate" costumes for any of them yet. They used part of the ultimate origin in Hulk, but they're keeping the traditional costumes for the movies. Thor is using the normal costume instead of the WWE reject ultimate costume.

It's just the lighting in that photo. The chainmail in LOTR was all made out of plastic but you wouldn't know it unless you watched the special features on the EE discs.

Pixar does 2D:

That's the first still from Day & Night, the short attached to Toy Story 3.

The characters are 2D, but the images inside their bodies are 3D.

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, following the classic Marvel mythology, charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga.  Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known.

Eh, wat. A reboot of X-Men with Xavier and Magneto as the main characters, presumably not set in a modern time? No thanks...

Prequel apparently, not a reboot.

I'd love to see a reboot that acknowledges the first two films but retcons the third one.

Does Captain America need to wear a helmet? or hide his identity? just considering the people involved in the Avengers movie, Tony Stark and Warmachine are both out there, The Hulk in action is just a giant green man that can't be traced back to the scrawny nerd, Thor is from space or something? I don't know.  If there was a reason for captain america to hide his identity in the comics, I don't think they'll do it in the movie.

I'm looking at the ultimate captain america right now it seems fine.  I mean, remove the helmet and add a flag pattern and it looks like The Rockeer.

OMNILAB MEDIA AND THE JIM HENSON COMPANY JOIN FORCES TO LAUNCH THE AUSTRALIAN FEATURE PRODUCTION OF THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED

POWER OF THE DARK CRYSTAL

Sequel to Henson classic film "The Dark Crystal" to be financed and produced by Omnilab Media in Australia and executive produced by The Jim Henson Company.

3D, live action, visual effects film to be one of the largest Australian productions ever.

HOLLYWOOD, CA May 04, 2010 - In a joint announcement by Omnilab Media's Christopher Mapp and The Jim Henson Company's Lisa Henson, Australian based Omnilab Media is teaming up with The Jim Henson Company to bring the much anticipated fantasy sequel, "Power of the Dark Crystal" to the big screen in stereoscopic 3D. The highly anticipated film will be among the most ambitious projects to ever be produced in Australia.

"Power of the Dark Crystal" will be produced by the Australia based production arm of Omnilab Media, Ambience Entertainment. The Jim Henson Company's executive producers are Brian Henson, Lisa Henson and Jason Lust. Omnilab Media's executive producers are Christopher Mapp, Matthew Street and David Whealy. Cinemarket Films' Peter D. Graves ("Terminator Salvation") rounds out the executive producer team.

Peter Spierig and Michael Spierig, writers and directors of "Undead" and most recently, "Daybreakers," have come aboard to direct the screenplay written by Australian Craig Pearce ("Moulin Rouge," "Strictly Ballroom," "Romeo + Juliet") based on an original script by Annette Duffy and David Odell. The legendary fantasy artist Brian Froud will reprise his role as conceptual designer of the film, which will use a stunning mix of live action and traditional puppetry combined with visual and special effects produced entirely in Australia. Omnilab-affiliated Iloura ("Where the Wild Things Are," "The Pacific," "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark") has already begun work on the film's complex CGI elements. With this team in place, next steps will be to secure worldwide distribution.

"'Power of the Dark Crystal' is an exciting and ambitious undertaking and, having worked on previous projects with the top-notch talent and crews that Australia offers, we know we have assembled the right team to deliver the sequel to one of the most enduringly popular titles in the Henson library. Peter Spierig and Michael Spierig are sure to create a film that will continue the legacy of the original and exceed the expectations of our loyal fans," said Lisa Henson, CEO of The Jim Henson Company. "We are especially enthusiastic to be working with Omnilab Media, a strong and growing force in worldwide film finance and production."

"We are very pleased to be producing this wonderful and fantastical film in Australia. The 'Power of the Dark Crystal' will showcase the depth of talent Australia has to offer up on the international stage, including the extremely gifted directing team of

Peter Spierig and Michael Spierig. The Jim Henson Company has consistently delivered an amazing range of entertainment over generations and is an iconic creative studio that we are proud to have partner with us," added Christopher Mapp from Omnilab Media.

Michael Spierig said, "We feel a tremendous amount of responsibility in telling this story with the same meticulous care that Jim Henson and Frank Oz gave the 1982 original." Added Peter Spierig, "This is a chance to take the world of puppetry into the modern age by using modern techniques (like motion capture CGI) and the tried and true methods (like puppetry and animatronics) to create a one hundred percent real world that is unique to 'The Dark Crystal'."

Set hundreds of years after the events of the first movie when the world has once again fallen into darkness, "Power of the Dark Crystal" follows the adventures of a mysterious girl made of fire who, together with a Gelfling outcast, steals a shard of the legendary Crystal in an attempt to reignite the dying sun that exists at the center of the planet.

For those that read the book, did that flesh out her character any or have anything to do with her motivations. Even if I had've caught it I really don't think I would've taken much away from it.

Well

spoiler (click to show/hide)
she says "would you like me even if I'm not a girl?" which could be construed "even if I'm not human" but the book has an elaboriate plot line on how Eli came to be castrated and how she became a vampire. It also ties into Oskar love for him/her. "Does this make me a cigarillo?" Finaly, this is a bit plot device because it shows how much of a pedophile Hakan, the guy kills for her is. He gets blowjobs from male child prostitutes in the book and wants to fuck Eli, but she will only let him sleep in the same best as her, which is good enough for him, so long as he kills for her. The castration takes the love story to a whole new level.

I disagree with instant streaming selection. It's pretty solid, and there's nothing wrong with old movies. You haven't seen every movie ever, so there's always something new to see, and a lot of my favorite movies are on instant stream and are rated two to two and a half stars on average. Stuff like Mulholland Drive.

Netflix instant watch needs a categorize feature, a list feature, AND a random feature. They just bulk all your movies together at once and when you've got over 200 titles in your queue that's a hassle.

Random feature would be so boss.

yesterday I was sick and basically watched movies all day.

McKenna's Gold - awesome performance by Omar Sharif, but a rather bland movie beyond that.  Weird ass funky western score by Quincy Jones.

The Children- Good horror film about "evil" children.  By the writer of London to Brighton which I just watched the day before last.  kids kill parents, parents kill kids.  It's basically what every single persons suspects of their friends who get married and have kids.

The Bird With Chrystal Plumage- I'm not really a huge gaillo fan, but this one was pretty good.  I'm mildly confused about one thing though, so I have to search it out online.  I'll probably watch the rest of Dario Argento's gaillo films in the "Animal Trilogy" though.

The Muppets Take Manhattan - not as good as I remember, but still cute and largely harmless.  Nowhere near as good as the first movie.  I need to see The Great Muppet Caper now.

tried to watch 3 Days of the Condor, but netflix kept crapping out on me.

The foreign selection is particularly bad compared to the disc service.  I went through all the good European stuff in less than a month.

I agree with Himuro, there's a ton of awesome stuff on the streaming service. I think you really could bitch about the selection over a year ago, but it's much improved. If you can't find anything worth watching on there, then either you have no life and have seen every movie ever or you have an extremely limited film palette.

That's not even including all the great television stuff on there.

No, I just add them on the PC before watching on the Xbox.  There's some good stuff through streaming but it's still really sparse compared to the disc library.  For example, almost all the good Swedish films on the stream service are WWII dramas even though Sweden has got many interesting films in other genres.
