I just watched Rango and yeah. it's pretty great.
there were some really low brow jokes in there but for the most part it's funny and the dialogue is well done.

Tree of Life.

Honestly, I ended up liking it, but the space/primordial stuff just killed all forward movement. In the 2nd half, I started to understand the reason for the sidetrack, but every time another scene of astral or natural splendor showed, I felt "Oh, shit. Not this again." When it ended, I felt pretty good about the whole movie. But I don't think I could watch it again.

The film has a similar feel as Coppola's Dracula. I like both as flawed movies that just entertain me for some reason. It's not a good movie but dunno man, I like it and wish we had more classic horror films like it and Dracula. I love the costumes, the atmosphere, etc  :-\

Classic Horror monsters deserve a revival, you'd think with Hollywood remaking everything they'd remake those that are both due for a remake and most fitting for such.

If The Woflman is the level of quality they're aiming for, I hope they don't even bother.

Pier Paolo Pasolini- Accatone
Still on an Italian neorealism bent. This is an interesting film. The thing that stands out is the camera work and the forced canned laughter. The story is nice and characterization is good. One for the proletariat. 3/5

Pier Paolo Pasolini- Medea
Jump shot. Zoom. Repeated scenes. I always like Medea in highschool. That crazy bitch and those weak men. The use of the satyr to demonstrate Jason's waning bestiality and turn to atheism was a nice touch. Maria Callas was gorgeous. The acting was okay and they should made a better boat instead of spending it all on costuming. The locations were superb. The editing is uneven though.  4/5

I thought it'd be crap, but I came out thinking it was OK.  A lot of that is probably due to Roald Dahl's great story (I never read the book).  I also found myself thinking "how depressing that the brats remind me of four out of five actual children in 2011".  :-\

In what way is Tangled bad? :wtf

Four Lions

This black comedy is pitch-black. It also proves that terrorism can be funny. There's really not much to the story, just a bunch of British Muslims that decide they want to be suicide bombers but are way too stupid to do it right. The performances really stand out here and there are so many moments that are just laugh-out-loud funny. Without giving too much away, it's a downer ending. Should be kind of a given though.

Tangled was waaaay better than Shrek (any of them). I'll be honest, I wasn't too hot on the trailer, but the movie was pretty damn good. It also has some of the nicest environmental art direction in a 3D movie.

well, duh. They didnt even need to put in that fucking epilogue, you knew that was going to happen.

I was glad when I saw the credits strted to roll, and I was like "wow, no epilogue. For once Hollywood filmmakers aren't treating me like a moron, I can put two and two together", and then BAM. Nope they have to spell it out for me. I am an idiot sitting in a multiplex, after all.

With Scott on-board I doubt they'd just do a straight remake. Probably some kind of sequel, maybe different characters in the same universe, expand on the ideas presented in the original. It's years away, if it even happens, so there's really no way to know for sure at this point.

I really love the look of this Ghost Rider. His outfit and skull look appropriately burned, which is nice.

I'm probably gonna get burned for this, but for all his faults, I think Tim Burton would be perfect to direct a Ghost Rider movie, and get that he's just a modern day demon on horseback though on a steel horse he rides. Otherwise he's just Bad Airbrush Illustration: The Movie.

There is no amount of suffering Pinhead and his cenobite army could inflict that can compare with the agony of sitting through Hellraiser: Revelations, a desperate final cash-grab made without a single ounce of thought or discernible talent. Not only does this entry make all the other sequels seem great in comparison, you could easily confuse this for some Hellraiser mockbuster from the folks at The Asylum. 0/5

Not expecting anything from the new Hellraiser since the only reason it was shot was so Dimension could keep a hold of the rights to the franchise. Wish they went with that remake instead with the Martyrs director attached.

This, times 100. There is no way this can end well. If you want a sequel to BR, go read the Jeter books, and bring a dick-stapler with you for added pain. Some would say it's redundant, but I found the dick-stapler to take some of the edge of the Jeter books.

Yeah, Ghost Rider looks hot.  Neveldine/Taylor have never gotten a decent budget before, but even the cheaply made Gamer and Crank's were highly entertaining.  And if its true that they'll be a R-rated Marvel film, well, that's just  8)

also, Tony Jaa is now shooting Tom Yum Goong 2 (AKA, the sequel to The Protector / Where's my Elephant).  The forecast predicts pain.

I know this will probably get me killed, but I really like the Tim Burton version. It's not a remake at all, it's an adaptation of the book, much closer than what the original movie set out to do.

I love both films. The original is clearly more close to my heart for obvious reasons but the Burton version is still great.

The one area the original is best at are the songs and choreography during said songs. It's a much better musical, so to speak. In the Burton version, all of the Oompa Loompa's are cgi of one dude, and it lacks the panache the original had. But if you like the book like I do, the Burton version is worth watching.

Still my favorite song in a film music:

Fright Night [2011]

A pretty good horror-comedy. It hit a lot of the right notes and had a nice balance of horror, comedy, and a little dash of drama that worked. Collin Farrell and David Tennant really hit it out of the park. 3D was pretty garbage, most of the time you couldn't even tell it was there. Except for in the final scene, there was a cool bit of 3D there. Not really worth paying the extra money though. But the movie itself is good stuff, definitely worth watching for fans of fun horror movies.

I really enjoyed it too. It's one of the better horror remakes I've seen in recent years. Despite some pacing issues in the 3rd act and some awful, in your face CG at the end, the movie was quite a fun ride. I really liked Farrell as Dandridge and Tennant was pretty funny (but as a fan of the original I can't help prefer the Peter Cushing-esque Roddy McDowell). I was kinda likng where they were going with the new Evil Ed but that ended much too quickly. It doesn't hold a candle to the original but it's still a fun horror on its own.
