Watched The Last Exorcism on Netflix this morning, because you know, Sunday. There's nothing here you haven't already seen, but it does that really well. It's about a self-confessed fraudulent preacher who is making a documentary to expose all the tricks fake exorcists use. He gets a letter from a rural Louisiana farmer begging him to come "cure" his daughter, and takes his two-man crew there to film his exposé. Given the scads of similar films, a movie like this really hinges on the acting, and the entire cast is very good, particularly Patrick Fabian as main character Reverend Cotton Marcus. He's the right blend of cocky-charming and sincere, fun to watch when he turns on his preacher act. It's filmed like a straight doc, only falling into shaky-cam "found footage" towards the very end. Gets kinda gimmicky (and a bit silly) in the last 10 minutes or so, but it's pretty crackerjack up until then. B+
