The only thing about Grudge Match is that they basically already did that story in Rocky Balboa.

The way I saw it was the hulk, Alfred and Winston Coolsman were all fighting over an objet d'arse (George Michael) with desperate lust.
One offered riches, one offered superficial knowledge, and one offered a funfair.

I like heist movies, I go to magic shows as a grown ass man (hey, its fun, great T&A usually too), I'm in the ideal audience for Now You See Me and it still sucked shit.

Riddick was entertaining but no masterpiece, The World's End is the darkest mainstream comedy I've seen in a long time and it was great, and In a World is a disorganized ramble of a movie that's flawed as hell but I still really dug it (everyone in the film has an effing job, I appreciate that).

Watching the Hangover 3.

WHAT THE FUCK. They've just finished smashing a wall down with a sledgehammer and then get locked behind a wooden door, yet don't think to use said sledgehammer to break down the door.

I've never been so mad at a film in my life.

Felt exactly the same regarding In A World.  Love Lake Bell to death, but I couldn't grasp what the fuck the movie was trying to say, at all.

Dangerous Encounters of the First Kind (director's cut) - Basically this is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre of Juvenile Delinquent films.  The third Tsui Hark film which was heavily censored upon its initial release, some people have gone through and methodically recreated the film's now lost original cut and it is a doozy.  It follows 3 teenage boys who make bombs out of boredom and terrorize Hong Kong because they have nothing else to do, and they're found out by a legitimate sociopath (who kills animals for fun including two for real on screen) who drives them to bigger and better things, but then they find a cache of useless Japanese bank notes which they steal out of ignorance.  what follows is some incredibly fucked up scenes of Australian gun runners hunting down and slaughtering the kids and the cops who try to find the bombers which places everyone on a collision course.  this film is dark, dark, dark, dark, dark, dark and really kind of amazing.  the method i watched this included several different sources so the quality would vary wildly from scene to scene but it may be the only way to see this.  just so relentlessly nihilistic.

here is the Director's Cut which pulled from the same sources I saw

it gets rough at times but you should still be able to follow what's going on

Yeah, I'm totally hyped to see it, but I think it's basically impossible to distribute, due to being filmed without Disney's permission on their grounds.

Who said that? I was under the impression that people were hyped because it came out of nowhere with a bold and novel premise but it ended up hampered by being a no budget indie from a first time director.

Original Rocky is truly a classic. A real American sports/cinema treasure. I could watch it when I'm 80. It's timeless.

2 betrays everything the first one was to give a feel good ending which entirely misses the point, although it has some entertaining scenes.

The rest of them are comic book movies but enjoyable in that way. 3 especially.

The last one is pretty good also.

Like I said 3 is good because its hilarious and a comic book but that's probably nostalgia talking.

it's somehow more shocking that people haven't seen Rocky 4 than Rocky 1.  get on that.  Rocky 3/4 are to Rocky 1 as Fast Five/Six are to The Fast and the Furious.

and I might've been imagining it, but a week ago I read that they're making a new Rocky where Rocky trains Apollo's grandson played by Wallace from The Wire.

edit: ok, didn't imagine it.  It's going to be called "Creed"

Rocky IV gets points for being the manliest damn musical ever made.
yes, its a musical, when over a third of your runtime consists of 80's pop blasting over any other noise, and there's an actual dance number (Apollo Creed's ring enterence), then Rocky IV is the musical most loved by people who wouldn't ever think of going to see a broadway show.

Neil Marshall Is Going Troll Hunting!
Neil Marshall, the director of faves like Dog Soldiers, The Descent and Doomsday will have director's pass at the script for a redo of Norwegian creature feature Troll Hunter. Production is set to begin in early 2014 to take advantage of Winter conditions at locations already scouted out for the film.

A group of students investigates a series of mysterious bear killings, but learns that there are much more dangerous things going on. They start to follow a mysterious hunter, learning that he is actually a troll hunter.

Marshall's star continues to rise beyond his cult film status with two episodes now of Game of Thrones. He is finishing up another large scale epic episode for the fourth season apparently. He has also directed the premiere episode of Michael Bay's Black Sails. So, do we anticipate a large scale affair, or, will it be like its subdued Norwegian counterpart?

So yeah, Insidious 2.  Not a bad movie.  But strange.  The pacing is probably the only bad part of it technically.  It's like Paranormal Activity or any other haunting movie without so much talking or subtlety.  It's entertaining and from the very beginning the movie is in high gear, but since it can't really escalate anywhere the ending feels flat.  It's very self aware and there's a lot of cheeky humor in it which I like, but it also makes it feel more like an action movie with horror elements than a horror movie.  Not a bad way to spend 2 hours though.

World War Z(3D) - I enjoyed it. Action packed and never ending tension. There is one part I started laughing at. There were 3 or 4 times when Pitt would stop running and look back to observe 1 specific zombie out of thousands for a few seconds, then start running again.
It sounded amazing with surround sound.

Now you see me - :beli The ending was the dumbest thing I've seen in a movie.

World War Z was surprisingly entertaining.  Still disappointing as fuck considering what they could have done if they followed the book more but it does a pretty good job of standing on its own.

Now you see me is absolute crap though.  It's like someone had a cool idea for a movie but didn't want to put in all the effort of writing a believable scenario.

Pain and Gain

Fucking hilarious, I used to think Duane Johnson (The Rock) was mainly a gimmick actor but he was totally the heart of this movie.

The Kill List

It is an amazing mind fuck but I need to find an analysis of the  movie that explains exactly what was going on. The twist at the end may have been just for shock but I think the movie is too clever for that (meaning there had to be some larger motivation behind everything).

Olympus Has Fallen

Total dumb, pleasant wargasm.

I seemed like there were two kill lists, really. One for the hit man, naming all his victims/cult members. And the other must have had Jay on it, considering each member recognized him. Like this was all some type of initiation or test. Not just to welcome a new member, but to crown one of the worst human beings possible as a leader. Batman: Under the Red Hood
Better than most Batman movies, not just the animated ones. A serious storyline, well-told. I may watch it again tomorrow. Great voice acting, except for Joker, because it's not Mark Hamill, and the actor goes for a significantly more dry Joker. Bruce Greenwood makes a great Batman, NPH does a perfect number on Nightwing, and Jensen Ackles nails Red Hood. The movie does a good job of not only being a good, self-contained story, but also remaining mostly open for continuation, like a comic. But they'll not go back to this one, I think.

Does it feel substantially different than the original Insidious? I really liked that movie.

Edit: Never mind, thought you were still talking about World War Z.
OK, I went and looked that up. Oddly, auto-complete for "Original ending" will bring up "world war z" automagically.

This movie was a real popcorn flick. I didn't like it much, mainly because it was all about Brad Pitt, and how he solves every problem. The book was about community, and how individuals did their part to overcome the war. WWZ movie suffers from the same problem the first "Tom Cruise IS Mission Impossible" did, in that there's a box office superstar in the main role, so let's have him do EVERYTHING. All the major discoveries made during the story, they're all down to Brad Pitt. I prefer zombie movies about how the survivors are dealing with each other, so I think I would have liked that "original" ending better.

I am pretty happy if this means there won't be a second and third film in forcing this into a trilogy though.

It's based on A Death in the Family and Under the Hood. I never read either of those series, so I don't know how closely it hews to the original comic, but I can say the movie is well paced.

A lot of the Death in the Family stuff is changed or left out, probably for the better since a lot of it was kind of dumb (Jason's fake-mom-but-it's-actually-his-mom, explosion took place in the desert during the day, Jason was killed by the crowbar not the explosion, Joker has a fricking nuke, Joker becomes a fricking US Ambassador, Joker kinda knows that Bats is Bruce, Superman shows up to save the day... some other miscellaneous things.)

Don't know what was different from Under the Hood, haven't read it yet.

Also, Jason was brought back by Superboy Prime's reality-shattering punch from Infinite Crisis, not the Lazarus pits (although New 52 changed it so that it was a Lazarus pit.)

It was a fantastic movie though, probably my favorite animated Batman movie.

*Scene 1*

We're safe!

*Scene 1.5*

Nope! Zombie horde!

But it's okay because Brad Pitt does something.

That scene on the carrier where the army chief tells Pitt he has to do the mission cause he's the only one who can.

But he went to Liberia or some shit, he's the only one that can do it!

YOU stop it. The first one is about the team... for about five minutes. Then it's all about TEH CRUISE MISSILE! I like all the other M:I movies just fine.

I have a beef with anything which pretends to pay homage to an ensemble cast show, and then makes it all about the star thespian or two at the core. It's the main reason I dislike most of the Star Trek Next Generation movies: Picard and Data are having a GRAND DAY OUT.

It's like a fan-made parody trailer but with big-budget production values.  :heh
