I watched The Magnificent Seven remake by Antoine Fuqua, which I was honestly prepared to hate. It was a 99¢ rental on iTunes, and had a 63% Rotten Tomatoes rating, giving it a "barely fresh" or nearly-rotten estimation.
Instead, there are some fantastic character bits in it, with some snappy dialog which I assume is partly from Nic Pizzolato's contribution to the script. No joke, this is also the first time I have ever enjoyed Ethan Hawke in ANYTHING.
It's a good ride, with a bit of an overlong final battle, and a couple of unforgivable tactical idiocy moves, involving a sharpshooter and/or a gatling gun. But, hey, it was a fun ride.
