Bullet Train was glib but fun. Off the premise I thought it’d be Smoking Aces on a train, but there’s no mean streak and it’s a full blown action comedy. Director is coming off Deadpool 2 and Hobbs v Shaw. If you’ve seen those, it’s like that.
Not to get ageist here, as Pitt looks better than most men in their late 50s. Struck me as odd when he’s playing a character who is written to be 30s to 40s. His contemporaries and rivals are all actors in their 30s. There’s a tier above that of elders. So Hiroyuki Sanada, in rare form playing a yakuza boss with a katana, is a wise grandfather in this. He’s about the same age as Pitt. Yet Pitt is seen and treated like a young man. It’s like that movie where Russel Crowe calls Tom Cruise a young man.
